  • War/nin Rocks!!!!!!

I have heard countless times to sub theif. Well let me tell you I outdamage war/thf by about a million times. Hell I outdamage DRKS and DRGs too most of the times but that is because I have HQ equipment and cheifkabobs (I got my attack up to 190 and my STR to 53 w/o berserk). So why do I think that War/Nin is better.

    1. Dual Weild + Double Attack equals alot of swings. Think about it each swing has a chance for double attack so I hit for 3 hit combos ALL the time and 4 hit combos are not that rare with me hitting them usually once a fight. And with 2 archer rings and alot of dex equipment I land them all (also the dex helps me get ALOT of criticals).
    2. Utsusemi rocks I can be a backup tank (or depending on the mob full time tank but not agianst those stupid mandragorias) and still use berserk because it doesnt even touch me.
    3. If I am tanking or even if I am not I am getting LOADS of hate when you hit for 4 criticals on a 4 hit combo they don't like you much.

I heard not to even think about going war/nin till 50/25 but I don't really think that is the case first of all the ninja's dual weild bonus at that lvl is pretty trivial. And the delay is not that bad. I hit for anywhere from 30-45 and 50-60 on criticals (2 warriors axes).

I recommend that more Warriors try war/nin. And don't just use it for 2 swords.

Note: I do have a thf sub lvled to 20 and I use great axe alot. Break is cool and the large damage per hit is nice. I always give the group a choice and if it were up to me I would do War/Nin all the time.

I am lvl 33 and I can't wait until 35 and Warcry. I lvled war to 30 and then quit, lvled ranger to 55, monk to 25, thf to 25, paladin to 40 and decided that I was a Warrior so I am back where I started =).

Note: Also at high lvls axes are really cool. Plus my hume looks funny swinging 2 huge axes.

I agree. War/nin is indeed a powerful combo.
This combo is viable starting at lvl24 with dual wield and blink1.
The 1st lvl dual weild is already 10% haste bonus and the 2nd lvl is only 5%. blink1 is not as powerful as blink2 but it is still very useful for tanking- i always dodge the 1st 6hits of the battle... and it is possible to recast during battle if the mob hits slowly. Sometimes i get lucky and absorb mob WS like spiders sickle slash which can do 600+ dmg -_-
Damage wise.. i feel i do more with dual axes than a G axe. This is because i miss less and hit more often (we all know its painful to miss 2x with a G axe) Double attack kicks in much more often with axes... the 2 hits of my axes added together is also more than one hit from a G axe. Raging axe is slightly less powerful than Strumwind...but it seems dbl attack kicks in more for raging axe =) ( i have done ~600 dmg with both using mighty strikes =) Right now im dual wielding viking axes (+10acc -10eva) so i never miss and critical a lot = very easy to keep hate.
At lvl74 we get blink2... and that will be almost godly =)
Someday i hope to be dual wielding Juggernaut and Ridil or Kraken club for multi-hit maddness!
I am still lvling sam for when i get to 60 and meditate for breaks and raging rush, tho i love my /nin very much.

      WAR/NIN does rox if you can afford the Shihei.... ;

WAR/THF on the other hand isn't bad, I for one love the damage SA+WS do, although SA is weaker as a subjob; not as high bonus to attack as THF main SA...

        Yeah

Both seem to be great tanks so it doesnt make too big of a difference which you choose. Monk has a bit better VIT, more HP, dodge, and counter. Later it gets Concentrate which helps land hits and gain hate.

Ninja has dual wield and can increase its speed which can result in more damage and hate, then it has a Ninjutsu to help tanking, although i dunno how usefull that is. Ninja will probably only be useful 24+. But it is close. Either one is a fine choice.

ITs more of a style prefrence. I suggest you try both. I go with monk because I think its much cheaper.

*EDIT* monk has boost for more damage and hate.

My only problem with War/nin is that i feel the need to bring a Great axe. So i will ask the party what it wants for renkai and still bring it with me just in case they change their mind.

It does bum me out though using great axe with nin.

Hey guys i picked up the Hume RSE vest it has less defense then the other amor at my lvl but it has +Vitality and +HP so can I wear it plz I have to get out of this stupid chicken suit (also knows by some as centurian scale)

When I've been playing WAR I use THF sub, but mostly just to get breaks to always land. The damage difference makes breaks decent damage but isn't really significant to what breaks add to your parties' overall output. I think thats why many WAR sub THF just to make sure breaks always land.

Hume's racial gears are pretty much simular to us mithra's... not very good for tanking, but if you are usually the attacker, just wear your racial gears for stat.... but generally, I choose def over stat for tanker-class

I've been lvling up NIN lately to use as a sub and the potential is great. SAM is great but it's more geared towards the exp PT great axe Breaks mentality. I find myself using 1h Axe a lot more because it can setup Light renkei for the THF in my set PT so NIN is the perfect sub for me. I do most of the tanking so Utsusemi Ichi and Ni will come in very handy. Also bought a Juggernaut the other day(2mil  ) and I can't wait to dualwield it along with my Tabarzin.

Hey all, I'm a Nin/War by trade and was glade to come across this post as I was dreading having to go back and level war as I have no other job leveled besides nin and war. It's great to hear that I can reverse the job combo and still be effective. I just have a couple questions tho. My warrior is 30 and I only have sword leveled. Whats the best wep/armor combo to go for and what will be my main role most of the time in PT?

                  Thanks!

Your role: Backup tanker, if there is a main tank, or the main tanker sometimes...

Equips: DEF>stat if you ask me, you are a tanker, so try to keep def up for better tanking, since WAR doesn't dodge much compare to the AGI melee. As for weapon, post-30, I would expect skills in both axe and G axe... G axe for -break and damage, and axe for tanking.. shield+axe... you won't have to worry about sword lvl since I hope you use sword+katana, which I heard is the best combo for ninja...and by doing that, your ninja will have your sword lvled... but generally, WAR needs to be flexible with weapons, being the weapon specialist...

I recomend to sub mnk it's better in dealing dmg and tanking. As for /NIN I'll use it at lvl 75 for limbo I personal... like using GAXE more than AXE just a personal thing other than that /MNK /SAM are perfect for me :D

Ive seen a lot of the higher lvs running around as WAR/NIN. I have to build my WAR later becuase after im done lvling THF im going to lv DRG. I plan to do WAR/NIN and bring either dual axes or 1 axe and 1 sword for more renkei options.

Id do MNK for the extra VIT and HP but it seems that everyone uses that combo, especially those new players and i want to set myself apart from them
