Upcoming WAR Needs Adive

I'm a level 12 Warrior and i just wondered if i could get a few quesitons answered

1. I've been using a sword to level with, and im something like 34 in the skills section bit with swords. If i wanted to switch to axes or knuckles, would that mean i would have to lvl from lvl 1 in skills with a different weapon? and also, would this be wise


2. When i can use a subjob, what should i become. I heard that WAR/MNK was the best as you have loads of health, but can i only use fist weapons then?


3. What should a do about having an advanced job, like paladin and that, what happens to the class of your character, does it become PALADIN/MONK .. or .. ? And would it be wise to become a paladin ?

It is reccomened that WAR keep a minimum of three weapon skills up to date. Typically these are Great Axe, Axe, and sword. Great Axe and Axe are the WARs best weapons because their max skill at each level is the highest for these weapons. Plus both weapons have good weapon skills that most other jobs do not have. If you only have been using a sword, then yes you should get an Axe and Great Axe and level them up. Each will in fact start at 1 and you will need to start with easy cons to effectivly level the skills up to a usefull point for party play. This is much easier to do at lv 12 then it will be to do at 20-30, so do in now rather than later. The only time people stick to sword only is if they KNOW they will go PLD later. Even then a WAR really should know more weapons from 1-30 (before PLD).

The sub job quest is a hot topic. There are a lot of posts already on this so read through them. In general from level 1-30 MNK is probably the most popular and perhaps usefull for a new player. And yes when leveling MNK you would want to use hand-to-hand weapons, but so what.

An advanced job is no different than any other main/sub job (once you do the quest to obtain the advanced job in the first place). You can pick any job to be a main and any other job to be a sub. So you could be a PLD/WAR, or a PLD/MNK, or a PLD/WHM or what ever jobs you have leveled.

Again there are a lot of threads on WAR vs. PLD. Read them. Personally I think both options are good and each has their place. You will see a lot of different opnions on this topic so will have to make up your own mind. In part the answer also depends on how you like to play. Personally I like options and diversity so i prefer to play a WAr at this point rather than a PLD. But a PLD is more specalized and can sometimes perform certain functions in a party better than a WAR can. A PLD also performs some functions in a party worse than a WAR can. So depends on how you want to play.

1. Yes you would have to start from level 1. Also it would only be wise if you plan to be BST for 1 hand axe or if you plan to go all the way with warrior. IF you are not doing any of those two things then it won't matter and go ahead leveling sword or any weapon you desire.

2. You should go MNK to level 30. But then you have the choice of thief (sam is also viable too...) If u dont plan to go all the way just level up monk. Also you dont have to use hand to hand weapons.

3. I dont get your last question. Please rephrase :sweat:

*btw if you plan to go full WAR instead of leveling Gaxe,axe, and sword, replace sword with polearm. Penta thrust is very useful for thanking and keeping hate.

When you start a subjob, you have to work that job up from lvl 1, just like an advance job, you got to get to 30 first with one job then start your advance job at lvl 1.
I think that answers your 3rd question :D

1. You'll have to level your weapon skill from 0 if you decide to select a new weapon. Axe is a good choice but don't use HtH since War got a D rating in them, comparing to A rating in axes, B in swords, spear, scythe and C in dagger. The rating influence how high your skill will cap at a certain level.

2. Mnk is one of the best sub to war, and once you select it you'll have to level the monk job from level 1. Even if you choose mnk has sub, it's better not to use HtH weaps, if you really want to use HtH play monk.

3. Advanced jobs are unlocked after you do a quest for them, the level requirement for getting those quests is 30. Those jobs are like regular jobs and must be leveled from lvl 1.

For capping weapons in skill, it's easy to cap 2 weapons up to lvl 30, then after that you'll have a harder time, especially if you use 2h weaps. At lvl 40 right now, i got 120 in great axe, 112 in axe, 92 in polearm. Those are the 3 weaps i plan to use on my war. Right now there's just so many drg at my level it's pointless to use 2-3 polearm type weaps in 1 group.

If you plan on taking war post 30, i would recommend to use at least 2 weapons, great axe and another of your choice.
