  • War/nin???

I was just thinking of making a war/nin what do you guys think?

Duel wielding and double attacking with 1hand axes would be sweet i bet

Excellent choice. I myself am debating over what i want to do. WAR/NIN or DRK/NIN. both have their ups and downs. WAR/NIN you get Dual wield, Double attack (possible three attacks) and Mighty Strikes. With DRK/NIN you get Dual Wield, great Att. and Bloody Weapon (If you can connect you can pretty much stay alive a lot longer). But War/NIN is a great combo to go with. I myself would use swords (i like swords more than axes) but axes are just as good. You can also mix as well.

What is the benefit of dual wielding over 1h and sheild? Do you hit twice fast? Or is it nice to have the stat bonuses (like atk up) of two weapons?

With Duel Wield you get two guranteed attacks per turn and with Double Attack (warrior) you can get a third attack in possibly also. With DRK though you only get the two but with the DRK's strength theyll hit harder.

With a DRK its pointless seeing as how there 1h weapons are all Rank c-.

So you mean you do 2x the damage of a war using 1 weapon and a sheild?

Depends. If you connect both times then yes you will. But if you just connect once then no. Sometimes youll be able to do 3 to 4 times the damage depending if you have double attack (which youll have when you get Ninja if you have your warrior to 30) and Triple attack.

This job isn't that serious Warrior/Ninja is okay but you'll have a slow attacking delay and wont hit that much damage if a Warrior would have a 2hand axe. But go for it man
                Blm.75 - Whm.56 - Mnk.58 - Rdm.48 - Nin.37 - War.37 - Drk.37

I myself think it is pretty good if you dont want 2H axe(not smart ) If you were to get your hands on 2 Tactician Magician Swords you would be kickass. +24 attack WOW. Or even 1 plus some axes that high have ACC up that would be nice.

What about dual wielding two different types of weapons (ie axe and sword or Dagger and sword for thief)

It would be really unique looking but would there be any other bonuses? You'd have access to both sets of weapon skills right?

in reality, being war/nin before lvl 55 isn't so good choice due to the weak weapon skills of 1h weapons. however, w/ 1h axe ws "Rampage" that war learns at lvl 55 (skill 175), war/nin combination becomes superb. dual wield has an advantage of lowering weapon delays when using 2 of 1h weapons, (i.e. if u have 2 of 1h axes and both have 300 weapon delays, ur actual weapon delay isn't 600, but it'll be lower.) thus maximizing the damage. Rampage is actually the strongest ws for war from lvl 55 to 60, so having this combination blows away the thf's "viper bite", almost equaling the ws damage, and more damage from normal attacks.

btw, w/ dual wield, u only have an access to the weapon skills of main weapon, not the one of the sub weapon. for instance, if u have axe in main weapon slot, and sword in the sub weapon, u can only use ws of axe. also, even though u can have different types of weapons in each slots, the hitting accuracy depends on the combat skills of each. meaning, as for war, if u have axe and sword and both skills r maxed, in theory, attack w/ sword has lower hitting accuracy due to lower skill cap.

Thanks for the info like always bside. I was curious about the dual wielding of different weapon thing, it sounds like an interesting concept. It may be a good way to raise two weapon skills at once as a WAR/NIN in order to be a more rounded warrior.

u r right about raising 2 weapon skills at the same time, sactothrash. i forgot to mention this, but even though u only have an access to ws of the main weapon, u DO gain skills for the sub. so it's good for skill ups. as u level higher as a war, it becomes necessary to go to a "skill up tour" to keep ur weapons up to the caps since at each lvl range, weapons war mainly uses differ. and war tends not to use 1h axe often until lvl 55 (for Rampage), so at least for me, it was necessary to make several tours to learn Rampage.

my nin is only lvl 7, so i couldn't take an advantage of it, but i recommend this combination to anyone who's willing to raise their 1h weapons' skills. (and if u use sword/axe combination in leveling party, when asked for red rotus, u can easily raise ur axe skill even if ur actual skill is way lower than the cap... oops, don't let ur party member find out what u r doing. :spin
