  • Minimal tanking bordem=War/?

hey, im getting the game soon...hopefully, course, i said the same thing about half a year ago and was wondering, if i am to be an effective tank, on the side of taking hits, is a Pld really the only option? or could i be something like a War/Mnk? also was wondering, is a War/Pld gonna be effective but boring, or is there some actual thought involved with using them?

ps:is it better to go with War/something or something/War?

thanks for anyadvice you guys have, and hope to see ya online soon *whacks head on table telling self not to jinx it*

oh, yea, and which is best with the combos, Galka, Hume, or Elvan(i managed to skim the race selection to those 3) :p

ah very glad to hear that the last MMORPG i played was DAoC, the whole realmwar thing was cool but the gameplay for an armsman(my main char)... lacked intrest to say the least...

oh, also a question about the galka with sub classes, if i do become a paladin, or other mana using subclass, will i have enough mana for a couple casts, or is it one shot and med?

past lvl 50, war will be a good tank.

by sub mnk (mnk go acc up ja at lvl 25), you can use accuracy increase ability all fight (swtich between mnk 25 ja and war 45 ja).

and use 2h axe, using shield break WS(got evade down effect). You wont miss a lot. and your member can do 2 renkei by charging tp as fast as possible....

you may also using defender ja to be meat shield...
      ?

          Example of Skill Chain:

          Red Lotus > Combo

WAR does Red Lotus, MNK does Combo a few seconds after Red Lotus. Big fireball Skill-Chain effect occurs, and does some additional damage. Mages can also cast spells during this effect to do additional damage as well(called Magic Burst).
          Server: Titan
          Country: Bastok
          Race: TaruTaru
          Rank: 6
          Current Job: THF62/WAR31

          WHM60/THF62/PLD50/WAR36/BLM30/MNK16

so, correct me if im wrong, the renkei is sort of the opening for the skill chain, and rather then only being one person using it, the entire party(and anyone else fighting that mob) can use its effects to set off a skillchain effect?

weapon skills are the limit breaks of FFXI, Tactical points, TP, is gained through combat and I believe taking hits, once it's above 100% (max of 300%) you can do a weapon skill.

A group of weapon skills one after the other, is called a renkei/skill-chain.

I'm fairly sure that only specific weapon skills will work together to create a renkei/sk-chain, and only in a specific order. There's a chart somehwere around here that helps, don't know where it is though.
