  • THF vs MNK

I'm just curious how well a level 60 thf would fair against a level 60 mnk in a ballista match.
If the thief goes all out in evasion plus brings elemental bolts.

You're gonna have to kite that monk like a sumbitch.

Seriously if he goes MNK/SAM and then gets close to you... lights out.

It would be lights out if he could hit you. Thf/nin decked out in +eva is hard to hit. Bring some status bolts and drain his hp, blind him, and if hes not using poison potion sleep him. The mnk is going to have a lot of hp so you gotta find a way to do some damage.
      Thanks Kazuki.

With bolts and full eva gear, it won't be that one sided. I know I did pretty damn good as a thf/nin with bolts against a galka mnk at 40 ballista. He was so low on hp that he decided to 2 hour me, so in return I 2 houred him. I woulda won too if his friends didn't zerg me =/

        Double Post Edited:
btw, I only used nin to sub a racc knife while main handing a CC sword. Dag ws suck one vs one at 40 so I decided fast blade was best. With DE and better dags at 60, a thf would be much more dangerous up close. Though I think thf/mnk in that situation would be better as you don't get a lot of time to recast shadows and even if you do they'll go down quick. Being able to use dodge and counter against a mnk would be better imo.

Blind could hurt if you could continually stick it. Chakra gets us out of that one for free, once anyway. So could eyedrops.

You need to remember if you're going all out on gear, its only fair to assume that the monk will too. Unless you're really good at casting shadows, and its uncapped, then shadows tend to go down fast, and taking the time to recast them eats into the time that you get to deal damage.

              Re: THF vs MNK

I dunno, if you could start the fight with a big SA Weapon skill, you may have a chance. After that, I think it just comes down to the luck of the draw.

If both THF and MNK are decked to the nines, it comes down to what luck each player has that day. Can the THF get in some big Crits and evade enough hits. Or can the MNK's Acc help bust through the Evasion, and take down Shadows. If you can Sleep bolt the MNK, and fire off a SA Weapons you may be able to do it. But straight up, just Sword Vs. H2H you're going to be doing a lot of work. Keeping shadows up, Various status bolts, hoping your Atk/WS macro fires off with out a hitch, and that you can get Sleep bolts to land is a lot of work and the MNK may still just over power you.

I've seen 450dmg Raging Fists at Lv.50 against IT EXP mobs, so imagine what it'll do to a PC w/ gear all aimed at Evasion? I'd say you have a chance, but it'll be a lot of work! Good luck!
