When to upgrade weapons/armor?

I've been keeping myself pretty up to date when it comes to armor and weapons. I've tried to constantly keep myself one of the best equipped thieves possible. However, I've looked ahead at some of the possible daggers I can buy in the future, and I'm at somewhat of a loss. Although I do realize I should eventually probably go for hornetneedle.

I just would really like some suggesstions as to what I should try getting from now on. As I lv up, and the options of stuff to buy or quest become more open to me, I get really confused as to what I should be aiming for. I realize that some armor is not a problem. Things like my emperor hairpin will last me all the way through lv70 at least. And a few of the THF AF pieces are really cool, like the legs hands and feet. So there's no problem there.

Most it's stuff like what daggers to use, what body armors to go for, and what else might be really important to keep my eye out for. As I lv up more, i'm starting to realize there are alot of rare/exe items that would really come in handy as well, that I am not seeing when I go the auction house, and there's alot of those type of items I dont know about. The only few I'm familar with are hornetneedle, and optical hat, and that's because I see alot of high lv people wearing them.

Anyway, hope some people can help me out with this. You can see all my current gear at the link in my sig below. A note, even though I only have the sniper's rings listed in my equipment. I do also wear Deft Rings (Dex+3) when I use my SATA macro.

Well, first I'll note off that your equip-list link isn't working for me.

Anyhow, here's some advice. I've made a THF equip list upto lv60 before, but I think posting that would take up a lot of space. I'll just post some various tips.

I can't see your gear, but right now, hopefully you're using a Bone Knife+1. If I were you, I'd keep WAR and NIN as viable subs, but I won't go into detail here. At lv48, try to obtain a Hornetneedle. It has a low delay, and makes for a great TP-gain offhand. At level 50, I'd get Corsair's Knife and stick with that. If you sub NIN for Dual Wield and various stuff, you can either dual Corsair's and Bone+1 or Corsair's and Hornetneedle if you've sold your Bone+1. Personally I'd keep both and switch off depending on the situation. I don't see any other daggers you would have to upgrade into anytime soon.

For swords, I hope you're using something like a C.C.Scimitar+1 or Flame/Vulcan Blade. At later levels, get a Darksteel Sword > Musketeer Commander's Falchion > Greed Scimitar. I won't go into Throwing and Marksmanship in this post.

For armor...
As your current level, I'd personally have this setup.
Head: Emperor Hairpin
Body: Brigandine (+1)
Hands: Windurstian Gloves
Legs: Bravo's Subligar
Feet: Leaping Boots (Winged Boots)
Shield: Viking Shield (Strike Shield), WAR-sub
Neck: Spike Necklace
Earrings: Drone Earring x2 (Accurate Earring x2, or both)
Rings: Deft Ring x2 (Sniper's Ring x2, Alacrity Ring x2, or all)
Back: Nomad's Mantle (+1)
Waist: Mercenary Captain's Belt

Not much needed improvements. You can keep Emperor Hairpin, Leaping Boots, etc. Wear your AF, and for your body try to obtain a Ranperre Harness and Black Cotehardie. As for your neck, try to obtain Spectacles. It's 3mil (7mil cheaper than Peacock Charm) and has ACC/RACC+7, helping a lot with Dancing Edge and landing hits. Rings, you don't have to go HQ. Get 2 Fluorite Rings at 54, and 2 Jadeite Rings if you have spare gil. Sniper's Rings are nice but if you're broke it's not 100% necessary imo. Although, they'd help. Get a Life Belt next level, that's the only thing you should keep. Ever. Nothing really for a Back, try Agile Mantle if you don't like Nomad's. I won't go into solo gear, you can ask me via PM sometime and I'll send you some tips and opinions.

Well as you might be able to see, some of the information is a little out of date, considering I went from lv47-50 last night. Hehe However, yeah... I tried checking my profile shortly after you posted, and it was working either. Allakhazam servers go down sometimes. It's working now though. I really suggest checking it out, cause as you can see, some of what you said, I already have taken care.

A friend of mine told he'd help me get a hornetneedle when I got to lv50(bet he didnt expect me to get there so fast tho) and corsair's knife yeah...i really wish i could get that right now, but I am like about 500-600k short of affording it at the moment. I suppose I could farm for a long long time, but I dont know if I wanna be out of lving for that long. However, I do still need to do genkai 1 as well. I kinda knew that I needed to get one after talking with some friends in game, but I just plain and simply don't have the money. And with this character, I haven't really focused on any other jobs. Making gil from BCNM or anything wouldn't be easy. I couldn't even get invited to a worm's turn BCNM because I didn't have rng sub.

As you might notice from looking at my profile when you can, I don't really use swords. Never have. Been a dagger only kind of thief. Didn't really put much priority in lving WAR sub too, cause was planning to use ninja from the start when I decided to do THF.
