Hunting Devil Mantas

Can a Lv75 THF solo a Devil Manta? Angel skin has recently creeped up to 2 million on my server, and it's kinda absurd to pay that much for gear that I'll just be using in conjunction with SATA+WS (although I might just wear the harness normally for the looks hehe). If it is possible to kill a Devil Manta myself, what would be the best way to fish up these guys?

yes, bring bloody bolts and have capped marksmanship

You can solo them, but if you have gil-sellers on your server you may run into problems with them voking and killing your mantas while you're still stuck in the fishing animation.

You can solo w/o bolts....but if you get unlucky youre dead(e.g. triple attack that immediately takes down blink immediately followed by cross strike )

Shrug, should have marksmanship leveled period really. Its such a huge part of what makes thief such a great soloer. Evasion+blink+bolts ;3

They're definitely easily soloable with or without bolts. If you have gilseller problems near Phantom Worm you can go to Terrigan, but you'll get less manta because there's 4 different mob types (2 pugils, crab, manta) as opposed to 3 in kuftal. They're also 68-70 in Terrigan as opposed to 66-68 in Kuftal, but still very easily soloable.

Easily soloable maybe but without bolts there can be alot of downtime unless you have hp regen equipment. Even with capped evasion and best evasion gears you will get hit or hit by AE ;3

When I was leveling at Terrigan, there would be the occasional THF fishing for Mantas. It seemed normal enough, however, one THF had their back so close to the wall of the tunnel, the mobs would spawn out of aggro range of the THF. There seemed to be some chance involved because the mobs would occasionaly aggro the THF. All in all, it seems like a great strategy to save some money/time.

Not the best strategy for the surrounding parties... Scares the shit out of me when I see a Pugil pop at the camp, Luckily they don't aggro others.
