  • Help! Trigger Happy Theives!!!

Not really complaining about dead mobs, but i'm complaining about First vokers that get Sickle Slashed, effectively making me as pt leader feel bad and wasting 5 mins waiting for Weakness to wear off.

Pt set up is a decent lvl 47 pt set up for taking on Spiders in Quicksand Caves: RDM, WHM, BRD, NIN, THF, DRK. As usual, DRK does first voke, SATA onto NIN, fight goes off. This is all well and good, even sometimes we'd pull and do Distortion at the beginning (ended with SATA+VB, per usual, not sure what DRK did, i think NIN had to do Blade: Rin... i'm not sure, i turned off most of the filters...)

But here is the problem. During the long fights, the THF would SATA onto the DRK, just because the mob was half dead and he felt he'd be able to do damage and have SATA for next pull. Why do a lot of THFs think this is a good idea? I mean, NIN was more or less barely edging out the DRK in terms of hate, and the DRKs def went from Cardboard to Paper after doing some abilities.

Now, me and the WHM have to spam Cure III, which STILL doesnt draw hate (Thank Altana). Then woop-de-dee, Sickle Slash effectively leaves the DRK at 90 hp from 900+ (enough to survive 1 hit) and the WHM gets anxious and breaks out Cure IV. After a Suiton, i was able to get out Thunder in time, but i was really spooked...

    -----------------------------------------

After reading the THF forums for a while, it doesnt seem like many ppl here would be crasy enough to do this, but is doing 300+ damage to the mob, justification for almost killing a vital member? Or is there a way to concisly convey an explanation letting the THF know that if he SATAs onto the Trick B**** we'll all be screwed?

Also, unrelated, about to start raising THF because it looks so much fun, and i would appreciate even a few answers.

Thief probably doesn't understand that PLD and NIN are kinda different, lol. DRK should just pull hate off the NIN whnever SATA is up if possible. Provoke, Last Resort, Souleater, etc. should be enough for him to be able to do it most of the time without reuse timers getting in the way. Unless your NIN is ultra rich and just that good at holding hate, I wouldn't recommend what this THF was doing.

For me as a pld, i learned in a few party setups to hold just enough hate, that our rng and thf could SC on me with sata.

Main idea was that I would hold just enough hate that the mob would focus on me.

then the rng would ready the SC with the thf standing behind me, the rng would use his WS causing the mob to turn. Utsum... would be in place to protect the rng while the thf closed the SC+SATA on me turning the mob back around with enough hate to finish the fight.

With this setup if the party is good enough i was having to use min.. cures which kept down time as well.

      Just a thought..

P.S. this is not easy to do if u have even one person that is slow, or sucks...

Yeah, now that we ressurected this thread ^^

I've been with many awsome tanks on the road to 55, and I must say, that PLD and NIN are DIFFERENT ballgames by A LOT.

For one, PLD pay very little for enmity. In addition, NIN on my server pay excess of 25k for the Hojo Tool. That and the fact that many AF pieces (if not all) on a PLD have +Enmity. A Galka PLD i'm friends with was able to hold hate through two AMs....

Same Galka pld a lvl later lost Hate to a RNG who had Sidewinder, but lets not get into that XD

But i've seen good NINs and it just so happened it was in a pt i made, RDM BRD NIN RNG RNG RNG. I believe it is because hate was a lot, but at least spread around. Also, believe it or not, i was the slowest person on the team good thing the BRD was there or i'd have been toast as a Healer.
