  • Level 50 dagger choices?

I was wondering what would be the best combo (I'm currently using 2 bone knives +1 since im not 50)
    2 corsairs (was guessing this)
1 corsair & a hornet needle (since corsairs have long delay)
1 corsair & a bone knife +1 (for the extra acc.)

Many people find dual Corsair's to be too slow.

I'd personally prefer Corsair's and Bone+1. The Bone+1 has some nice stats and low enough delay. Hornetneedle just doesn't appeal to me.

I'm a big fan of the Hornetneedle. It's just so fast!

I liked Lust/Hornetneedle personally... though Lust is lv 51

Imho, for bang for the buck/gil, in order from "cheapest"/decent > "money is no object"/good:
            • 2x Bone Knives +1
            • 1x Lust Dagger + 1x Bone Knife
            • 1x Corsair's Knife + 1x Bone Knife
            • 1x Corsair's Knife + 1x Lust Dagger
            • 2x Corsair's Knife
Aside: Yes, I know Lust Dagger is lv51.

However, your selection really depends on:

            1) For your skillchain (SC), are you ever getting TP slower than your partner?
If so, wield a Bone Knife +1 and/or Hornetneedle and/or look into accuracy equipment. Not being the TP bottleneck in your SC should be your priority.

            2) Provided, #1 is fulfilled, it's time to boost damage.
For damage, I rank Corsair's Knife above Lust Dagger. It's truly amazing what atk+10 can do for SATA. Otherwise, Lust Dagger is a good cheap substitute since agi+7 is nothing to scoff at (just not better than atk+10, at least for my mithra)

            As for my path:
            • 46-50 = 2x Bone Knife +1
            • 50-5x = 1x Corsair's Knife + 1x Lust Dagger
            • 5x-65 = 2x Corsair's Knife (once I saved enough gil)
            • 65-70 = 1x Corsair's Knife + 1x Garuda's Dagger (lower dly -> more TP, almost as much atk+)
As for why didn't I use Hornetneedle; I still don't have it ~_~ (stupid wespe(s?) are stingy)

Also, I did save for 2x Sniper's fairly early (before the price boom) so accuracy was much less of an issue for me. I currently have accuracy+42 at lv70 and still need to get Optical Hat / Scorpion Harness (3 mil is still too much...) / Hornetneedle for a fully TP orientated thief.

            Hope that helps,

                Great

Then I recommend trying 2x Corsair's Knives (I loved them).

If you find you have a TP problem, try using Hornetneedle in your offhand (if you have it), otherwise Bone Knife+1 and you should do fine.

Lust Dagger is only marginally slower than Corsair's thus shouldn't help much at all with TP (wouldn't outweight the extra atk+10 at the very least).

Normally I'd agree with this, but I have a question...

Was the agility boost to TA enough to make the +7(?) agility on a Lust dagger more effective than +10 ATK?

Actually it says that DEX is now added to Trick Attack. I think this was to enhance SA more and maybe make TA slightly effected with DEX. Either way +7 AGI isnt anything bad, even with the negative effects. Can counter those with a Ryl Knights Belt.

Still using Corsair's Knife on levels 65-70?
Personally I went with Darksteel Kukri +1 --> Cermet Kukri +1 --> Hoplites Harpe. Even a DS Kukri +1 offers two more base damage than a Corsair's and is also faster.

There's been some confusion with this. The POL Client had it as a DEX add, but the POL site has it as agility.

A new thief job trait that increases the agility bonus of the ability "Trick Attack" has been added.

I just assumed it was agility.

I tried Cermet Kukri+1 for a while, but my initSATA damage was crippled to the tune of 100+ damage and even more for SATAWS (my partial static agreed) in Den of Rancor. It was uncanny and I first attributed the change to minuet dropping / mob buffing at bad times.

However, I was consistently SATAing for less damage over several hours, thus providing better data. Since our fights are relatively quick, the majority of my damage is applied via initSATA + SATAWS, which emphasizes the need for atk+.

Needless to say, this left a very bad impression on me, causing me to quickly sell my Cermet Kukri +1 and return to my Corsair's Knife.

I'm currently still using a Corsair's / Garuda's combination and will hopefully purchase a Behemoth Knife soon as an upgrade (if it ever gets back in stock >.>).

Actually, both sources had it incorrectly labeled as dexterity. SE later changed the text to agility without telling anyone :spin:

Also, yes, trick attack is definitely agility based.

Looks like I really won't need to buy a new dagger till Behemoth knife if Cermet Kukri +1 doesn't help much with initial SA/TA damage. I like killing things as quickly as possible if I can help it...so I guess i'll go with Corsair's/Bone Knife +1 (Elvaans need the +acc >.>) until 65 and switch bone +1 out for Garudas...if I can get help killing her that is.
