Heh, I'm in the same situation.... Level 42 THF, DEX+23 AGI+21 Food SJ: War - NIN

Lately, pt's have been hard to come by. Not because THF's aren't wanted, but it seems fewer people seeking and less groups being formed during certain times. So I'm also playing my 36 WAR right now too. If there are more people within my WAR's level range, I'll stick with WAR. But if there are more people my THF's level, I'll go with that. So I think you should level up as RNG, but also keep THF available too. They share similar equipment, so it shouldn't be too bad, and you'll be able to get invites quicker as well.

just make your own pt, that's pretty much what i did from 37-50. after that, it's better to find or form a set party with players that you like. also it helps you endure the horrible 60-65 gimping period (thx a lot SE). but thfs will dash out hugh damage once we get shark bite.

yeah for my thf i never had a set at all. You have to learn to be a leader as thf if no set, otherwise you can seek for hours and hours... as for not being enough people. It is good to have another job another level, if you see more poeple on that level range, then just switch ^^

Same experience for me as well. While my LS is all 66+ (including people who changed jobs when I was 44) I'm stuck at 56.

I do everything I'm suppose to, using food and the right equipment. Although I can't imagine using food, having the right equipment really matters. I rarely get to party with the same folks twice. So there is no way people would know I'm not properly equipped.

Forming parties is an option. If the right people are on. Often there are not enough mages or enough tanks.

I don't have the hours and hours to be seeking orfailing to get a party going. That's why I'm also working on BLM. Although even as a BLM the party invites can be spotty. Maybe I'll give bard a whirl.

Overall I think thieves do pretty well. But some parties don't like the hassle of fuidama and feel with a PLD tank agro is fine. It doesn't matter if its true, people's feelings are their feelings.

find a ninja buddy your same lvl and static with each other. Behind every good Ninja is a good Thief =/

Really unless you are a WHM, BLM, RDM, PLD, or BRD you'll have streaks were you get little or no invites. These streaks get worse the higher level you go. Reason for it is just there are few players that high a level, if you ever look at the Census for the jobs many players seem to stop around lv. 20 - 30.

The number of players over lv. 40 is around something like 10%. So of course it's expected to have a hard time getting parties, nothing on part of Square Enix just that simply their isn't enough players that high.

It's kinda sad how underrated thieves are. Log parses show that thief is the BEST damage dealer at low to mid/high levels and yet people think they're just another melee, just weaker than drk.

                  Warrior L30, Dragoon L45+, Thief L70+, Paladin L25+, Monk L15+, Ninja L35+ , Ranger 40+

Yeah, it's the same deal with MNK people think it's weaker then DRK when it really isn't. Really every melee jobs shines depending on what you are facing. There are monsters that DRKs are absolutly horrible at fighting, just like MNKs have, just like RNGs have, just like <Insert job Here> has.

Unfortunatly not to many people are able to realize that because of their starting experience with the game .

Yeah, I firmly believe that we will start to be vindicated soon as more and more people get parsers and see how much damage we're actually doing.

Its a lot easier to see a scythe whack for 90, than to see the 3 dagger hits for 20 apiece that fall in the same timespan.
                      You know I'm right.

meh, my monk does more damage than any melee job I hae seen, especially with a bard. We were in kuftal killing crabs last night and they were cchecking IT with low eva and def... what the heck. 40-60 on crabs, i was having so much fun.

Also if you can static with a RNG. NIN+RNG+THF = awesome PT, specially at higher levels.

I might be Totally wrong and you can blame me but i was once in a party, a crappy one and the leader was like we need one more member so i said get that thief, he said no because they cant tank as well and get hurts pretty easily. I won't say his name but even if it true thief are weaker tanks, in term of hp-equipments people just find that they want "cooler" jobs in their parties.

like sam or warrior they respond "samurai"
or thief or rdm they respon "rdm"

well you cant blame them. our party was poorly formed and died in a amount of minutes.

bottom line is: People thinks other jobs are more versatile than thief and honestly i would choose drk, pally, or a sam over a thief:sweat: just and opinion.

Maybe just reread your initial statement. Maybe I just have no clue what you're saying, but THF is definitely not a tank job. Did you suggest a THF fill in for a PLD or something? It's true that can't tank "as well" as some other jobs, heh.

On a side note, the last time that I was looking for a melee replacement, I wanted a thief. They can end distortion pretty nicely, and ice is what beetles are weak against. It was pretty hard to find any thief looking for a party compared to a lot of other melees.

Yeah it wont change, your not gonna make it to 75 if you rely on invites only.

But I say, so what? most people suck at making parties anyway :p so if I do it better I might as well be leader.
This is stereotyping a little, because ive had great leaders, but im just saying if you make your own, your guaranteed a level of exp.

Try your best to find a RNG, WAR, NIN and BRD friends lol.

NIN/THF/WAR or RNG is good good stuff. And why wouldnt you want a BRD ?
