Yokodama is BACK!

SA + Hide works on monsters who detect by sound. I did Sneak Attack + Hide and then attacked a TWTBW Quadav from the front. I hit like I would have from behind.

My experiment from last night does not work. Stand behind PLD, mob is facing PLD, SATA + Hide (using macro with wait 1 after each JA). Log shows I missed!!!

The "trick" with hide ( no pun intended ^^ ) is that you need to disengage autoattack for it to work I believe. So do initial fuidama, 30-45 secs later when SATA timer up, disengage autoattack. SA, TA, Hide, position behind tank, let loose... that's what I'm planning on trying tonight (haven't been on since the patch).

Common Thieves....I'd expect a little more finesse from you guys. Not just the attitude of "lemme shove it all into a single macro and hope to do everything in one button press." >_> Try it out, if it doesn't work, improvise/try a different tactic. Sorry to rant, but yepe giving up so easily kinda irked me there.

Hey Narru, at least I have tried. It's better than ppl just sitting behind the keyboard and contribute nothing but being sarcastic. Until you tried it yourself, being sarcastic disgust me.

When I xp, I dont keep trying out stuff that does not work because it hurts xp chain. If I'm in a non xp party for quests, missions, I would definitely try out new stuff. But whatever you said just does not make sense, what is the difference between engaged with SATA+Hide and disenaged SATA+Hide? They are the same until you land that first hit when hide wears out.

My post is for whoever have tried it sharing their experience. It may be a fluke on my part but I'm definitely wants to hear from ppl that has actually tried it to work or not.

Okay, listen up.

You CAN NOT do this new "Dama" during battle solo only on mobs : Yag, Gob, and Saha by Norg (Sight mobs, sorry if I forgot one). You can however do it to any mob with out or without sight before you begin to fight. Also, by having a friend standing in front.


I mean, it's alright. I did this every 5 minutes to my other thf friend for 6 hours last night. Sneak with it worked every time, so does Trick/DE. Sometimes you just forget about it, sometimes it's just fun to do. Oh, and if you get hit while hide was just put up, then there goes 5 minutes to waste.

And God Damnit, Narru is right. AND YOU DONT HAVE DISENGAGE TO DO THIS. Stand behind main tank. You dont need some /p text either that wastes party chat.

I don't think you guys understand... it's not about sucessfully hiding. It's about hitting SA+TA, and using hide before engaging. You still do the critical damage onto whoever you want.

I'd rather it be you can SATAH off main tank during the middle of the battle while he has the aggro rather than a poor man's way of fuidama'ing in PT's where people don't know how to set up Fuidama correctly.

I agree that the main benefit seems to be in HNM fights or any fight that would take more than a couple minutes to end, i.e. BCNM, etc.

I'd like to report that the SA+TA+Hide works

1) It only works on sight aggro mobs ( haven't personally tried it on sound aggro mobs, but had a thf friend try it report back to me - doesn't work ).

2) What you need to do is disengage autoattack. SA, TA, Hide, get behind the tank (who is holding the hate ). Then start autoattacking again. Hmm, now that I think about it, didn't try to initiate this part with a WS - gonna try this later.

3) If at any point you loose Hide before the hit lands, it failed. That's why sound aggro mobs would fail on this trick.

What does this mean? You can do initial fuidama off main tank, then 30-45 seconds later you can "hidedama" (? lol) off the main tank again rather on your fuidama buddy. Of course, this only works every 5 minutes.

I like it. Not a fully implemented version of yokodama, but we can do it once every 5 minutes (every other fight) - balanced. ^^

Hey, I have a question about Hide. I'm not high enough level to test this, or I would already know, so I thought I should ask. People have been talking about hide like it completely goes away if you are agro'ed by a sound/smell tracking monster, and therefore you can't do the Hide+Sneak+Trick thing. What happens if you have Deodorize and Sneak cast on you when you turn hide on? Does it still turn itself off right away?

Sorry if this is something that everyone has known for ages, I'm not high enough level to have Hide yet so I haven't heard much about it. If you can get hide to stay on if you have Sneak/Deodorize on then I'm guessing those spells will see alot more use now =) Not to mention the items that give those effects.

Anyway, this Sneak+Trick+Hide thing is very cool =) I'm extremely happy to hear about it. I play with my brother at all times, and he plays a Warrior with my Thief. So it's going to be a blast when we get high enough for me to learn Hide. We'll be able to skill chain with me using both Sneak and Trick attack, and keep the hate on him. =) I love it.

Sounds pretty neat, maybe it's time to put those thief equips back to use XD. I'd hoped they would reduce the timer to 2 minutes, or at least 3-4. That way you can setup first fuidama, then do this without irritating the party~. I don't know how great once every 5 minutes is but I definately wanna try it out later this weekend~! In 5 minutes I'm sure at least 2-3 skill chains could have been performed

Thank you all. I have read many posts on this new SA "Hide" feature and it appears not to be very useful in xp environment. In summary from what I've read,

SATA + Hide works ONLY:
1) Sight aggro mobs
2) Disengaged before using SATA + Hide
3) Hide does not wear because of AOE or any other reasons.

A few "Sight" aggro mobs that I know:
1) Gobs
2) Yagudos
3) Orcs
4) Beetles
5) Cockatrices
6) Bombs
7) Tigers
8) Coeurls
9) Demons
10) Manticores

OKAY, fill me in on the big secret. Why do you have to disengage to do this? Eh? You can still get everything off without disengaging.

OR NOT! I already posted that I did this new "thing" off a thf friend of mine in Oztroja for 6 hours after the maintanence. Please do read other posts before you post something like that. I'm saying why do people disengage? Simple Question.

And what I was saying was that was my first EXP PT since the patch and when I tried this onto the main tank from a Cactuar it didn't work. Nor did the raptor. But when I did it off my friend in Oz it worked perfectly. Catch on yet??
