farming-what weapon?

Which weapon would be the best to use when farming? Hand-to-hand, sword, or dagger? :sweat:

It depends on which ur most compatable w/ and have the most skill in.

Personally when I am farming weak enemies such as Quadav for backplates I dual wield knives (just for looks) or just use the beestinger for it's sheer speed.

If I'm fighting things that are easy prey to me I usually hold a sword in my main hand and a dagger in my other hand. Since I'm soloing and unable to effectively use VB the sword WS are more powerful than the dagger WS (well at least at my current level ^^)

But that's just me.

I thought of a way to kill 2 birds with one stone.

Firstly I'll start of by saying I've read countless times how piercing weapons are weak vs skeleton/bone mobs. And post 60 I read some parties may when you to go thf/mnk with h2h and capped skill @ h2h, regardless of the thf's E rating in h2h.
2ndly as earlier stated by another thief with access to viper bite, it doesn't reach it's full potienal solo farming very often. Yet the h2h and sword WSs are noticably better for pure damage until higher levels of the daggar when it really developes.

By using hand to hand weapons, you can elimate 2 problems. I wouldn't trust their accuracy too much though so I'd use them against much weaker pray.

But being a thief if we need the use of daggar WSs for some reason, we can switch np since any thief with common sense has a daggar hopefully very up to date. I just hit 41 and got cyclone for my thief, an area of effect wind based weapon skill. it's a 125 skill useful in killing trains, for example 20ish and below quadav trains in pal. However h2h's first AOE is at 150, spinning attack. Combined with thf's poor h2h rating it would be a great deal longer before one could obtain it.

When hunting mobs one at a time though of noticably lower level yet high enough to raise skill, I don't think you can go wrong on hand to hand.

sword is much stronger for soloing than dagger is at mid levels.
Since you can't stack sneak and trick attack, dagger isn't very good for soloing until you get dancing edge (even then sword is almost as good) the only reason I ever used a dagger for solo farming is if i was training mobs that were FAR too weak and using cyclone. If I was fighting anything anywhere even close to being easy prey, sword is hands down the best decision.

h2h is ok, BUT only if you're using mnk sub, otherwise the delay is just too long IMO. (I see you have rng leveled for sub so I assume that's what you farm with)

Find the best dmg sword you can afford and it will make you feel a little less weak while soloing :/ (from my experience, thief just isn't very powerful while soloing at all.. I feel gimped soloing with my thief compared to ranger :sweat: )

I agree with Phor's points, but I've never heard of a thief having to have sword capped post 33 for experience parties. H2h with a leveled mnk sub may come in handy in the future though with talot of acc increasing gear.

In short yes, sword is a very good solo weapon for thief, I feel it's a waste of time though unless daggar and H2H is capped since IMO they're more importent.

And farming with dagger is deffinatly gimped. I do around the same damage with my boomerange then with my dagger. :sweat:

Don't forget that ranged weapons use a diffrent dmg formula I believe.

at 60, bows are the best farming.

It does great damage in front without Sneak + you get sidewinder and barrage. Which are more potent than dancing edge face front.

But you use arrows.. which cost a lot... so it defeats the purpose of farming. :sweat:
