  • TH2 really worth it?

hey guys i got my thf to lvl 33 i just got sata only doing like 250 dmg to IT with a normal attack i do like 300-350 with viper bite im a galka maybe that has something do to with it =\

anyway i was wondering if its worth lvling thf to 45 for TH2? does TH2 help with NM drops at all? or only normal drops like sheep skins etc..???

There are many theories and discussion on the dropsystem when it comes to thief. All I can tell you is:

    TH2 > ALL.

    so yes^^

Well TH2 is only worth it if you like to have more gil in your pocket. But i suppose if you dont like a better % of silk drops from Crawlers and better chance to get multiple sleepshrooms from Fungar then TH2 isnt worth it for you.

playing thf for TH 2 is not a really great way to go about things. I mean you can do it and some ppl do that but I think you really need to love the thf job to want to spend an extra 30 levels getting TH 2 over TH1.

The hours spent lfg alone is enough to make you cry.

But if you are going to do that, please, please, please! get the up to date equipment for the job. I've farmed my ass off to buy gear so I can be a good thf even while taru. But the other day, I had a mithra thf of the same lv join my pt.

        I was 34/17nin
she (he, not sure in videogames) was 34/15war

I did viper bite off of bats for over 400 damage (fed kuriki and mithra scimitar really help )

she did viper bit for under 300. and that was after I explain to her how to do a fudiyama. (wtf, a thf explain to a thf how to fui???)

I checked her and she was still using crappy decourion dagger and some 1/2 assed gear. She was rank 5 so I'd assume that she'd come prepared but when I asked, she said that she just wanted to lv thf for TH2 /coffers and to use as a subjob later.

And yes I am flaming all bad thieves that use crappy eq and don't farm cause it "wastes time."

if you are going to pull off a 1/2 ass job as a thf, you just make other thieves look bad. Ppl are constantly surprised that a taru thf/nin (no bezerk) can break 500 damage and I think I know why they think that now... no wonder pt invites are slow >_<

and besides, getting armor and weapons is basically free.

You just loan off the AH anyway. sell it back when you lv.

Only mages should be complaining about cost of armor and such since they need armor and their spells are all consumed.

so there should be no excuses!

Gilsinks so far, no return of Gil:

                - Ranger
                - Ninja
                - BLM / WHM / Bards(But only once for their spells, and they don't need uptodate gear -.-')

I know why i do push WW that hard, i wanna keep my arrow costs deep enough ^^

And if you're gonna take THF to 45 for TH2, you might as well go to 50 so you can sub whm and sneak/invis yourself for coffer runs.

really i have come to realize that T.H 1. or 2 is just a load of crap. after a few days of farming an tons of oozes, an garnet quadav dead. i had a total of 6 mauls. a bunch of spells that sell for crap, an 8 slime oils. i have spent about a good 7 hours farming. before i gave up an took a nice long break. an while i who sub a lvl 25 thf had this problem. another lvl 51 thf/blm was getting about the same worthless crap as i was. so how do you explain it. if t.h is better drop rate. why isnt my farming income showing me this? 25k in 7 hours is nothing to woohoo over. i think from now on i will bring my war sub to farm. better str, better def. dbl atk. an provokes to nab the mobs sooner.

im just looking for a honest answer about T.H. instead of he say, she say net talk. stuff like it only works if thf is main, no it works no matter what. it is stronger as a main then subbed, you have to do last hit. an so on.

I saw a *noticeable* difference in my farming when I hit level 45. Those who doubt TH & TH2 help usually are those who expect some godly results (4-5 drops per kill, all emperor hairpins even if you only kill a damselfly!). TH2 is a big help, but it's not a miracle.

Personally, TH2 is worth it. The JP think so to. Thats why when you see a JP HNMLS taking down a HNM they allmost allways have a thief. I saw a JP LS kite behemoth for 20mins so there thief could get there from jeuno lol....

sorry ixaera i really dont expect godly drops, or to go kill a few mobs an come back with load of good items. im talking about the last 3 trips i made to farm. but when you fight 100 oozes in a row in beaudeux, an only come out with 5 slimes from them, you start to wonder. when you kill garnets inbetween ooze spawns an only get worthless silence spells, an barpoison spells. it makes you wonder.

when you see the same lvl 51 thf there, an they are complainign to, an they have T.H2. it makes you wonder. you know i could see killing 1 mob every 15 mins an getting nothing. but when i run around killing like mad, an only resting when im out of mp for drains. it makes me curious.. i ve even seen a couple lvl 65 drg, an drk with mage subs, if t.h is so godly why have i noticed them with out it, even talked to one, said it wasnt worth it... an he was jp.

                              *shrug*
All I can say is that there is no way to definitively prove that TH or TH2 is absolutely worth it. (Although what "worth it" means will differ from person to person by a wide degree.)

If you farm a lot, you'd be better off with TH or TH2. For one, an increased drop percentage is *never* a bad thing. Leaving your mog house without it, well, you're not going to notice any extra drops, period.

Now, if you go out with TH or TH2 and kill 50 mobs already doubting your TH's usefulness, I can guarantee you you aren't going to notice much difference because you will be too busy noticing the mobs that don't drop. (I.e. perception affects reality.) Also, note that everyone has slow drop days, TH or not. But WITH TH those heavy drop days can be more lucrative and the slow days less painful.

Anyway, while farming your object is to either get gil from gil-dropping mobs or drops. Gilfinder and TH, regardless of *how* effective they are, are ideal for this goal. Ignoring them just isn't wise. Going out to farm without a thief sub is kinda like leveling whm without an mp-heavy sub. You'd be gimped, but hey, at least while farming you'd only be cheating yourself
