  • SA & WS while Soloing

Is there any way for me to use SA + WS while soloing?

Currently I've experimented with some Macros but still won't give me the desire result of using SA + WS while soloing. Please help!

well it is moderately easy to start out a fight by using sneak attack+ a weapon skill. i have my macro set up like this

    /ja "Sneak Attack" <me>
    /wait 1
    /ws "Viper Bite" <t>

pretty simple. you need to run up behind the monster without having attack on. when you are behind the mob i press attack and right when i pull out my weapons(Thf/nin) i hit my macro. if you do it quick enough(not TOO quick mind you) you can sneak+WS before you hit once.

The only way i can think of to do a sneak attack after you have started a fight would be to use a job that can sleep(preferably Blm since you can use elemental seal on hard to sleep mobs). after you sleep you employ the same method of starting a fight mentioned above. if someone else has a method i would like to hear it, but this is the only way i can think of now.

I have two macros when soloing for it.

      #1 =
      /ja "Sneak Attack" <me>

      #2 =
      /attack <t>
      /wait 1.5
      /ws "Viper Bite" <t>

Do #1 before the fight, get behind the mob, then activate number 2. The /wait is according to /NIN, it might be quicker for /WAR.

The second macro is also good if you accidently use Sneak Attack before you can do a Fuidama skillchain onto main tank.

Thats a pretty good macro, ZQM. i have had the problem of accidently setting off SA+TA too early before, maybe i should add that macro somewhere in my macro set.

Also don't forget that you won't be able to do this on sound-detecting enemies.

He's going to be soloing though, so I'm going to assume that he'll be farming. No one really wants to farm that many aggro monsters that still give exp.

Yes, I found that out when making the macro. /wait 1 wouldn't give me enough to take out my daggers, /wait 2 would be to long and I'd hit, so I tried /wait 1.5 and it worked.

I wouldn't worry too much about stacking them without renkei/skillchain. Sneak attack only seems to affect the first hit of a weaponskill, and you don't need a large lump sum of damage because it won't affect renkei/skillchain damage.

right, when soloing (still no dancing x.x) sneak + viper really only ends up adding about 20-30 dmg over sneak on it's own, you're better off doing sneak then gust slash, unless you're using a different wpn or whatever =\

should not viper on solo, just cyclone if you have it and are able to use it, until then gust slash.
