  • Which belt?

I am currently a lv 49 thief. I want to upgrade from my Merc. Captain's Belt but I am not sure which one. I was thinking either the Royal Knight's Belt for the +2 Dex and Agi (and other things) or the Life Belt for the +10 acc. Would the the +1 Dex and Agi from the RK belt really make that much of a difference from my current belt? Or would it be better to go with the Life Belt?

Get Both!!! That's what i'm doing anyway. You can always change it during fights.

Here's the situation.. without Life Belt, you would not land any hits on IT's, thus equal other player waiting for you to gain TP. Switch to Royal Knight's when doing SATA and when it lands, switch back to Life Belt..

SATA Damage for me on Knight Crawlers in Boyahda Tree:

    With Life Belt on: 250-280
With Royal Knight Belt on: 290-330

So I would say roughly 40-80 damage difference..

    Definitely worth the 60K.

I can't afford both right now and on my server the RK belt is more like 90k.

            ummmmm

if you are a thief and NEED a life belt your race obviously shouldn't be a thief get a better job for your race a theif should be wearing the most +dex gear they can and if you have to use slots that could be + dex gear for + accuracy gear then you put the gap of ability between mithra dex and whatever race you are dex even greater...

the slots that should be dex gear are as follows:

all weapon slots(at 40 thf af dagger and mithran schim, if you arnt ninja sub then I dont know what shields can give you)
            ranged(once lightning bow becomes available)
            neck(spike necklace)
            tunic(brigandine)
both ring slots (balance rings and then later deft rings abnd even later the +4 or +5 dex rings)
            gloves (thf af)
            boots (leaping boots duh)
            belt (royal knight belt)
            head(emporers hairpin duh)
back (the bastok mantle gives +2 dex, i dont know if non bastok people can wear this though)

there are no + dex earrings(you should be wearing drone earrings however) that i have seen and no + dex legs that I have seen thse are the only 2 slots that are excusable for non dex gear! even mithra should be wearing as much dex as possible for maximum damage! if your sub is not ninja you shouldnt be using a mithran schim however as its a sword and not a dagger

            hope this helps

A non-gimp thief wears accuracy equipment while charging tp, then uses macros to switch to dex/agi equipment for fuidama weaponskill. Of course you can't switch weapon, subweapon, or ranged slots since you'd lose TP.

I'm mithra thief with bard and accuracy+33 while charging tp =>.>=

Dex earrings such as androit and pixie earrings exist, but they're out of most people's reach.

I fully agree with M.Kittycat, take the time to get the gil (not long as a thf) and get both, then just make 2 macros. One to put on Acc eq and one to put on dex/agi gear. Im currently swapping:

snipers rings >> +3 Dex rings
                life belt >> Ryl.Knt. Belt
+acc neck >> Spike necklace (currently camping the peacock charm)

With the +acc and dual wield (corsairs & lust dagger) I can SA, TA, WS every minute w/out fail, hence why i push for samurai's to be in my group...most others dont keep up =D

                  well

I rarely have trouble getting tp for the next fight, now and then yes a monster becomes unusually hard to hit but that only happens maybe 1/15-20 monsters.. hardly worth spending a fortune and inventory space on more equipment.

I may be a theif but gil is still a pain to get much of.

and yes I am aware of the dex earrings.. its just they are obcenely expensive so i don't list them

Here are my Thoughts Use Royal Knight Belt When you have a bard in group playing + accuracy Song Under level 60.. When you reach Lvl 60 with Dancing Edge I would use Life Belt Full Time. Even with Bard in group.

WOW what blissfull ignorance. are u aware that dex basically =acc? so that lifebelt would be, based upon the common ideal that 2dex=1 acc, a +20 dex belt? and as for race making a diffrnet generally it doesn't unless ur galka mage or taru melee its irrelevent and only those 2 because of the extreme's, (only taru melee in a tanking position b/c of lower hp cap)

problem is, +10 acc is NOT equal to +20 dex when it comes to sneak attack damage.

dex adds to accuracy and sneak damage - accuracy only adds to accuracy (obviously).

while performing fuidama, dex > acc, but for building up tp then acc > dex (but not by much).

in an ideal world you'd get both, if not, i would swing towards the RK belt.

They're both relatively cheap~ I used have both Lifebelt and the Royal belt thing but mainly use lifebelt because no matter what, hitting is good >_<. When you don't have a bard you need all the accuracy up you can get, something I didn't realize until my mid 50s . It's true that thieves hit more than others and are generally more accurate, but not by that much. While two handed weapons can hit and charge more than 10 tp, each dagger attack hits for 5 tp, dual attack will make it 10 assuming both hand. It's not unheard of to miss all 3 triple attacks without a bard.
