hume thf ??

im a hume thf and i plan on being thf/nin forever and well i never put much thought into it i always figured mithra only had a few more dex adn agi then hume and it woudlnt matter. but today i looked it up and it seem they have 10--15 more dex at lvl 70 thats a big difference it seems to me. and humes have like no differnce really or less dex and agi then every one else. now i thinking of re starting ...but i have over 600 hours in this game would a mirtha character really be that much better at high lvls then me hume and is it worth losing all that time and quests and such... i also have fishing to 15 but that isnt to high i guess...

so again is it really tha tmuch better has a mithra if so is it worth restarting as well ?

Well, since the forumla for sneak attack works something like this. If you have a dagger with 20dmg on it. And 70 dex you're sneak attack would hit as hard as a 90dmg weapon would in one hit, pretty sure it just adds dex to dmg directly. Although I think attack rating is calculated in here too. If I'm interpreting the forumla correctly then I'd consider restarting if you can bare it.

dont restart, continue as you are.... Its not that big of a deal...i have a THF also and do just fine with Sneak/Trick/Viperbite. Constantly 400+ dmg with it. Your armor and weapons play just as big a part as your race. Itll be hard getting into a PT as a THF regardless of your race. Dont forget to eat good food (like mithkabobs) and youll be fine. Dont fall into the elitest mentality.....many people never make it past lvl 50 before they quit the game. So dont worry about lvl 70 and the stats that youll have/wont have.

I would not quit, you will still be a good thf. Just get better equipment. By lvl 70, 15 dex isnt going to mean anything with good equipment. And if hateys formula is correct, that dex converts directly into damage, are you really going to throw away 600+ hours for 15 damage?!?!?!? Not worth it at all in my opinion.

i madea new char to see if i like it better and i dont. i really hate mithras and i hate playing as one but every one keeps telling me hwo much better they are... i dunno im not impressed or happy. ill most likely go back to my Hume but im not sure ill see what happens.

The forumla I was speaking of would add a lot more than 15 dmg, it'd add dmg onto the weapon like the weapon had it's dmg + your dex written onto it during the sneak. But anyways the dex will also add accuracy which means more TP, which means more viper bite dmg. But to tell the truth, I dunno if I'd throw away a bunch of time invested, especially if I was out of kahzim with either of my guys. Getting to 33 is fairly easy.

One thing that calculator doesn't mention but is implied is that adding +ATK helps your damage. This is because if you can raise your ATK high enough so you are fighting mobs that are not High Defense you do more damage.

According to the calculator bringing my AGI down by 4 didn't make any difference in damage (from +17 to +13). So I'm gonna try Beetle Earrings +1 (+6 ATK with both) and see if more ATK helps me. I still saved my Wing earrings in case I'm wrong.

a 15 dex difference is a huge difference...but the things is the difference isnt 15 dex...thats bull. the difference is 4 dex. not 15...4. 4 dex is not a huge difference. the exact numbers are hume 64, mithra 68. with equipment 4 dex is not a lot. someone probably got their info from a website that was wrong. specifically the one guide on gamefaqs. it says mithras have 78 dex at lvl 70. thats a typo. its 68. stay hume if you want dont worry about it.

i wish to add that as level 54 thief / 27 ninja i am currently having 67 dexterity as base i believe and also 61 agility as base..

i am unsure if calculations that you refer to are bare and without job modifiers, however.. so i may be adding useless information that all know of

i would also like to note that i see little difference at moment between my fuidama damage and fuidama of hume race.. i would consider that my equipment is almost fully optimised for my level also

i believe that hume will make fine thief.. i am mithra because i have tendancy to play most dexteritous race in any game i play

Okay, most important thing about your character is that you like your race and name, because that's the *only* thing you can't change. You can change jobs at anytime, but the race.. you're stuck with that.

So, pick something you like. Don't go mithra just because someone told you 'it's the best', because if you don't like it, it really isn't.

That out of the way, 'hatey's depiction of weapon damage *theory* is at best.. a gross misrepresentation.

While yes, Dex/Agi *is* very important, the slight edge mithra get hardly make all other races worthless. I've PT'd with well equiped Humes, and the difference between our renkei damage wasn't as huge as some people would like you to believe.

Lv45 Hume THF/NIN.

Just wear lots of DEX and AGI boosting armor. I'm still wearing Merc. Capt. equipment (lv30 stuff) because of the great DEX and AGI boosts.

Can't afford the Deft Rings and Drone Earrings though. :sweat:

yea i went back to my hume. playing as a mithra was so horrrible ..no offense to anyone. but being hit on even after i told people i was a guy gets annoying as well as people telling me to get naked alot... plus my hume looks cooler has 350+ hours on the mithra and has a better name
