Greetings to my Fellow Thieves!

Anyone beat Maat yet? I just tried him and lost!!! It took me hours to get that Testimony too! Anyone have a good strategy that doesnt involve luck from stealing? I have bad luck with stealing it seems.

Argh, back to Beaudeax to get another Testimony I guess .

Finally Beat Maat!

Got tired of trying to steal from him and used a brute force method. Got really lucky as he only used one weapon skill on me the whole fight. Won with 178 HP and zero potions left, lol.

If anyone wants my strategy, post here.

so how do you do it? I want to know this brute force stragety too ^^ you sub ninja and pray for utsumi to recharge faster?

You go into the fight without sub job.

Heres the strategy i used:

-Full Evasion Gear (+45 Evasion)
Evasion Torque, Rogue Earring, Dodge Earring, War Gloves, Emp Hair Pin, +5 Evasion Cloak, etc.
-TP Necklace + 6 Sleep Potions
-Icarus Wing (which i forgot)
-20 Hi-potions
-Corsair Knife, Accuracy Gear, 2 Phalanx Rings

Started fight with Meat Kabob. Put on Opo Neck and used 6 Sleep Pots. Got to 150% TP. Opened with Dancing Edge. Plan was to use Icarus wing and Dancing again, but forgot to buy it :mad: . At this point, basically its melee till 100% TP then Dancing Edge, using Hi-potions as necessary.

The key was all the +evasion. My Evasion was maxed, and with +45 evasion Maat barely hit me, and only used weapon skill on me once. When Maat used Perfect Dodge, I used it also to heal to full.

Time to win: 8:30 . Took one try to win with this method.

1 food (meat kabob is fine)
2 reraise potion
3 opo opo sleep (5 potions)
4 switch to dex gear
5 sa/shark bite
6 switch to steal gear
7 steal
8 switch to acc/evasion gear
9 icarus dancing edge
10 melee until hp is 300
11 2hr, heal up
12 melee

If you die without getting him low.. reraise and you get one more try to steal.. That's bout the best you can do I think.. Good luck.

Can actually open the fight with a Sneak Attack on Maat, or if you can time it right a sneak attack + dancing edge. I just did it the easy way and stole from him tho ^^

Will Maat be ooled by Hide?

Was thinking about the brute force method and when you get 100 tp turn off attack, use Hide, circle behind him and use Dancing edge...

Pointless to try though if you cant fool Maat with Hide.

Maat is not fooled by hide as far as i can tell, but the run away and hide method is not something im super good at.
But, he will just stand there until you attack first. so you can line yourself up and do a sneak attack on him.
on my (unsucessful) melee attempt i had my alchemist friend make some sleeping potions and opened the fight with a 300% sneak attack/shark bite and it took off a HUGE chunk of his hp, like right around 50% of it. He went straight into perfect dodge so i used flee and ran him around the arena a while. once flee wore off i went back to beating on him and once i was in orange hp i used perfect dodge and healed up. looked like i was gonna win, he was around 20% and i was still in yellow. But i guess triple attack decided to activate during his WS because he dragon kicked me for 1200 damage

2 fights later i beat him with steal and got 0:34 for my time

edit: I'm going to get my testimony from Cape teriggan, you guys got me pumped to do this... sort of...
I think Instead of wearing the blue cotehardie, just going to stick with Rogues Vest... or maybe switch after the initial SA+ WS

I was opening with dancing edge, because I thought that would be better, but I think I will try the shark bite this time.

i havent fought maat yet and i am no where close to fighting him, but would some thing like this work, go in get 300% tp, sneak + <most powerful WS> Icarus Wing, use ws again, switch to all that nice latent effect equipment when in yellow,when u get to red, perfect dodge and heal to full. switch to other gear, and use ws, icarus wing use ws again.
how about it, would it work, it would be kinda expensive tho.
