  • Levelling THF 37+

So I have been stuck at 36-37 with my thief for many weeks now. This is incredibly disconcerting and is driving me toward quitting thief and possibly the game entirely.

I spent 2-5 hours a day looking for a party, depending on my patience level. About every 10 hours of looking I find a party that lasts for about an hour.

How the hell do you get experience with Thief beyond 35 or so?!

Don't tell me to make a party, because I've tried inviting PLDs, WARs, WHMs etc to start a party with, but when they realize there's only a few people in the party they drop and get a party within a couple minutes.

I've tried THF/NIN and THF/BRD, both apparently suck because nobody will ever invite me to a party. I can sit in Crawler's Nest for hours waiting for a party, but I'll inevitably be passed up for someone hanging out in Jeuno for the past 5 minutes.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find parties, how to find parties, etc? I've tried sending tells to group leaders in my level range, using shouts every 15 minutes, sitting my ass down in the zone that everyone XPs in or simply Jeuno... I need suggestions so I can avoid being forced to quit from sheer boredem.

First off, you need to be slapped if you use /brd for thf. Second, dont stand around in the area that you are going to level looking for a party (ex. Qufim). Standing in Jeuno waiting for a Party is much more...err..I dont know how to say it but it's better. And plus if a PT leader is in Jeuno and see's you in Crawler's nest...he wont invite you..believe me! I never invite people that aren't withing zoning distance of Jeuno, no matter how good their job is and how much they are needed. Level 35 could go to Altepa or Crawlers, so as you said before you can't make PT's..BS. I've made PT's from level 15-55 and haven't been invited (If I was I typically decline looking at the players that are in PT's before joining) nor have shouted for a PT. So, if there are enough players around your level who want to PT..most important..mages! Get mages first then melee. If players leave after just joining then they are rude ass bastards. ƒc

You must have a better server than Bismarck.

If you ask people to form a party with you and there is either

      a) no WHM looking at the time
      or
      b) no tank looking at the time

they will not join. And WHM's/tanks get invited to existing groups so quickly that they rarely will form a party with you.

I did always start parties from 12-30, but since then there has scarcely been enough looking at once to form a party (if there are enough looking, the party you could form ot of it would suck).

The big problem on my server is that 90% of the people looking for parties are Japanese. I don't know why, but a lot of the ones I ask to join my party respond with "JP only" after you ask them to join.

Don't think I haven't tried forming parties. I sit around for hours on end -- I'm not jerking off to the nearest Mithra, I'm trying to get something going.

For JP players, use PT ni haitemo ii? Then list the jobs in the group, I usually have a 50% success rate this way as it shows I am at least willing to learn some of their language even if it is crappy romanji ><

I have about 6 pages of romanji phrases that are good for the game, it makes it easier to communicate, although I have difficulty reading Japanese :p

My suggestion is to join an experienced Linkshell, you'll find some on this site even. You'll almost always be able to get 3-4 ppl from a good well established Linkshell.

Another suggestion is to try doing quests, missions, and crafts for a change, and maybe stay around Jeuno a bit before heading out to the place where you'll be lvlin'.

If you made friends with whms or tanks before, try getting them to join you, if you do make friends with some, make sure you don't neglect them afterwards.

Possibly might consider trying to lvl your ninja a bit more, although expensive, later on they're seen as a mix of tank, dmgdealing, enfeebling.

Goodluck, and don't give up on anything!

Black is quite right about bismarck.... There's either no mage or no melee on at anygiven time lol.... I have static pt for my thief. ^^ thats why i am 60 and not 30ish still.... but. I still get many pt invite.. JP and eng so i dunno.

I find there is no reason to stay close to jeuno. John may not invite u to pt but then. He can't get pt invite either that why he make his own pt. I camp NM's, coffer, Craft and lots of other stuff and get many pt invite. It's those people who can use the /sea all command who are usually worth pt'ing with.

I'm a Lv37 THF and was having a hard time finding parties too. I waited around for a week and decided to level my Ninja.
