Kore's first encounter with a mimic:


I was using Living keys at lvl 51 in Monastic Cavern (AF4).

1st try: Mimic.
2nd try: Failure, failure, mimic.
3rd try: Succesfull.

I'd like to know how do the high lvl THFs go to hunt Coffers/Chests. They are always ready with 2h+scroll of warp? or they risk their lives always (chances of getting mimic), I'd like to know because I plan on hunt Coffers/Chests 24/7 once I get my WHM to 25.

Why is it ppl seem to use WHM sub to tele out? Just for added healing ability? Couldn't THF/BLM (as long as BLM 17+ and has Warp) work? I'm interested as I plan on lvling BLM for the Warp reason only after I lvl THF and NIN up a tad more.

Because with blm sub you don't get sneak and invis which are pretty much essential for the higher-level coffers

Does anyone know how to open a door with the thing you need to crank up and down..~ ;;

Just keep messing with them... It will open eventually.

@ I-10 on the map (from the 2nd reply), there is a hidden room. Inside that room is a four switch thingy also. That 4 switch thingy tells you the pattern needed for the other one next to the door.

Use Skeleton Keys instead.
I still never face Mimic, maybe I'm lucky.
Total Coffer I've opened around 15.
1 Coffer at Oztroja (AF)
1 Coffer at Zvalh (AF)
1 Coffer at Beadauxe (open it while help someone hunt key but it didn't drop)
12 Coffer at MonastiCav^^
It failed 4 times so, 15/19 success rate = 78%

If you hunt Chest, please use Living Key.
I get trapped a lot when use Thief's Tools...
(If you get trapped, you'll weaken for 1 hour)
100% success rate if use Living Key with Treasure Chest for me^^

is there an NPC that you need to start this or do you just go for the coffer? so far ive got the bonnet and the gloves.


EDIT: To answer my own question you just go and find the coffer, no NPC involved. got my cullottes(sp?) the other day, it was rediculously easy with tonko:ichi
