  • How are you making money?

I'm currently a lvl 18/9 thf/mnk and barely have any gils to buy new weapons (using lvl 9 brass dagger ). I was talking to another THF last night and he gave me some tips. One tip i got was stealing saruta cottons from Pymagoi (sp?) in Tahrongi and a set of 12 goes for 4000-5000 on my server. Does anyone else have other methods of finding money?

      As a lvl 18 THF/WAR, I feel your pain.

Tharongi Canyon is a gold mine. Kill wild dhamels for hides and femurs, that go for 200, and 400 on Seraph Server. (What server are you on, by the way, that buys saruta cotton for 4000 gil!?)

Beehive chips go for good prices, especially in sets of 12. Same with silver beastcoins from Yagudo Pipers. Just walk around, sneak attack, and kill anythign that moves. You'll be rich in no time.
Eagles may soar, but have you ever seen a weasle get sucked up by a jet enjine?

That's a set of 12 saruta cotton, not a single one.

Kill crawlers in W saruta, they sell for 500 a piece (and my server's economy = shit) and 9k for a stack. You can also trade crawker's calculus to an npc 3 for 600. I use this, just bought my amethyst ring (finally, 4k = way too much).

I'm saving up a spike necklace (10k -_-) and a small sword (I'm too lazy to do 15 quests/find 15 quests), so I'll try your method.

Fishing is the best time/money investment I've made.

Now I'm a level 13 white mage still, but have 10 fishing and of the recruit rank. In windhurst zones (except port, saltwater) I can reel in the moat carp like mad with 3 - 6 gold a piece little worms and a glass fiber fishing rod.

I get on for a bit and easily sell 2 stacks of moat carp (12 each) at 4,000 gil. Just from a few hours last night I have 10,000 plus gil.

Skill 9 was where things really seemed to change, I went from trouble getting moat carp to going moat carp/moatcarp/moatcarp. I also get crayfish in the windhurst zones and there is a cool pond in West Sartubaruwhatever which I get moat carp/crayfish and dark bass out of. Its weird I'm catching them at 10 since the dark bass skill cap is 33 I guess... this kind of explains why even higher level people fish at that pond, 5 of us where lined up

I'm getting the hang of stuff, like I don't seem to catch more moat carp with the expensive insect paste balls. So little worms are fine. Poles like the fast water one or the glass fiber rod sell for nearly as much when broke as when new from the auction (some tradeskiller is buying broken ones and fixing them.)

lately if I'm on like at 2 am or later, US central time, If I put up a stack of moat carp at 4 k they are usually sold within 10 minutes.

Holy crap! You're making me want to take up fishing, Aniedi.
Too bad I just made the trip back to Bastok. (I got homesick after almost a month in Windurst)

And if you want cash quick, I wouldnt recommend Goldsmith. O_o Currently a lvl 7 goldy, and I spend more money on supplies then I make. Silver ingot= 1000 + 2 Brass Ingot = 1000> Sapara= 1000.
If you're in the Bastok area, kill worms. They sometimes drop silver and zinc ores, which go for 400 and 200. The worms in Maze are too tough to be a profit finder, so dont bother unless you want to spend a fortune in band aids.

My Mithran friend recommends Alchemy, since you use the cheap stuff that monsters drop in bundles. Good if you dont have any cash to begin with.

With Treasure Hunter JT, I'd go out to the mines one day and come back with a bunch of Quadave Backplates. They sell from 500-900 Gil at the AH.
Having a party with more than one THF is great too. :D

                    Become a lumberjack :D

San d'Oria has lots of trees to hack down. Just get a stack of hatchets(5k) and start searching out the hackable trees. Try to do this on the off hours. Chesnut logs and elms logs sell for about 2k and 2.8k respectivly(not a stack, they dont stack). They don't show up that often, but often enough to get a decent amount of money. Also if you want to get woodworking up you can get a stack of wind crystals and synthisize ash and arrowood logs to work on your skill. Wind crystals are kinda expensive, but if you arent looking for lots of cash at that moment, work up that woodworking :D

I just make Beeswax. Sells for 10K in a stack of 12. Just harvest beechips, buy some distilled water, and a fire crystal.

                      Basically, 3 beechips, 1 fire crystal, 1 distilled water = 1 beeswax.

                      1 Beeswax = 1 k

                      12 Beeswax = 10k

                      Easy money.

I basically grab signet, and go into Giddeus... everything inside there gives wind crystals, it's really easy to get a lot of these too. Around an hour to an hour and a half, i had 24 crystals.
sets of 12-crystals sell for $1900-$2000.

pretty decent, pretty fast... easy enemies.

unfortunately killing yagudos doesn't increase your fishing skills
Quick... think of a word that ends in "C".

(no names like Civic, Eric, or Pontiac)

Not to mention the Yagudo Necklaces you can get. 1 Yagudo Necklace + Wind Crystal = 3 Grass Threads.

Then 3 Grass Threads + 1 Earth Crystal (which you should be bursting with) = 1 Grass Cloth

12 Grass Cloths sell for 3.5 k on my server (siren).
