Taru Thief

I want to make a thief character, but I'm having trouble deciding between Taru and Mithra. I know Mithra are better than Taru, but I'm not sure by how much. How much do the stat differences really matter?

I want to eventually be an effective Thief/Ninja and I'd like to be a Taru. However, if they are extremely poor at this job, then I'd like to go Mithra(they are my two favorite races anyway. :>)

Basically, would a Taru Thief/Ninja be too gimped compared to a Mithra Thief/Ninja, or would he do good enough to be considered effective?

i am taru thf
al long as you have good equip you can be good. yes mithra is better attacker thf than taru. i have at lvl 56 dex+24 mithra base probably have at least 5-7 more base so with the same equips even better. but besides mithra for pts i get picked over humes elv and galkas all the time. also taru have best steal......so actually if you think money wise taru is better.

I'll go with it, even if it's not true. I want to be a Tarutaru out of all races... and I like the Theif job, so I'm just going to go with that. Maybe later do some magic classes.

With the way stats work the only real advantage races have over each other are HP and MP, the high lvl gear is more +attack and +accuracy than actualy stats, and 2 dex = 1 accuracy, 2str = 1 attack and you see several things with +4-20 attack just showing how little your base stats will matter ( besides hp/mp)

Greywen you make a good point, if there are a lot of +Stat items then base stats arent that important.

Just how easy is it thought, because I see about 20-30 differnece in stats depending on race/Job/SJ on stat calculators at lvl 70.

Are any stats especially hard to raise using items or are they all about the same.

+1 attack == 2 strength
+1 accuracy == 2 dexterity.

what about CHR,MND,INT,AGI, and VIT?

+accuracy or +attack doesn't add to your DEX/STR FYI.

Mithra will obviously have the adavantage, but there's nothing wrong with a Taru at all.

THF shouldn't be taking any hits at all so VIT and HP shouldn't matter. And there are plent of easy ways to enhance your STR, DEX, and AGI.
