  • Obtaining Gils on Oct. 29

I haven't played the beta but have been reading extensively about the thief. I have a question. Will the thief be able to get gils quicker than other classes when the game comes out? I want to get a world pass for my friends, but we are deciding who should get the world passes. I said whoever gets enough gils first to buy the world pass will do so and the others will join that server. Also, if the theif is the best class to get gils, is there any particular places where the thief can get better gils compared to other newbie zones? Last question, does anyone know or have a really good estimate of how much a world pass will cost when the game comes out. Thank you for your time.

    bump bump!

very interested in an answer for this post. I myself have 7 friends who have pre-ordered the game and will all start playing on the 29th or so and we all want to be on the same server, of course. Any tips on how to go about getting worldpasses fast early in the game?

ok...I was apart of beta and let me tell you this. According to SE helpdesk's info, we will be starting on clean servers. What does this mean? World Passes will be cheap, very cheap...same goes for LS pearls. When I began beta, a WP was 60 some odd gil. Towards the end of beta it was 180 some odd gil. Its VERY cheap...

Now, going to obtain 60-200 gil is an extremley easy task. When you start out the game pay attention to where the NPC tells you to take the Adventurer Coupon. If you remember where they tell you to go and you take it and Trade it to the NPC you will obtain 50 Gil. Simple enough huh? If that isnt enough, run outside and kill some things obtaining items, run back into town, sell the items then go buy a WP. It will probably take you no less then 10 minutes to get a WP# to your friends.

People will be storming on in large numbers, so it will most likely be more than 60 gil. I wasn't aware of that adventure coupon, that's good to know.

Thanks a lot Keftenk...I just hope they won't change the cost of the world pass up in price. Thanks for the info. again.

Tip: If your starting in Sandoria you can kill tunnel worms and rabbit hare's ( the two weakest monsters in the ronfaure regions ) and trade their items to NPC's thats way faster than selling them to Shop NPC's

Bat wings give you 200gil for 2
Rabbit Hare skins give you 120 for 3
The rock worms drop give you 100 for 4.

Easy money there.. as for bastok or windhurst i couldn't tell you cause honestly i never started a new character or lvled any low lvl characters there.

my guess is at the very begining warrior/monk/redmage would make money fastest.
in the very begining the thieves gil steal and steal are lvl 5 but only some monsters drop gil so gil steal doenst help unless your fighting something that drops gil in the first place and in the beginning steal steals kinda junky stuff.

Since Warrior/monk/red mage are the strongest attackers naturally. they will be able to kill faster and get more money quicker. cant really factor in the cool theif skills since you wont have them yet.

if what u want is to start w/ your friends instead of collecting gils, why dont u use other methods such as create a character then see which server u r assigned, if it is not on the same server as your other friends just delete it and create another 1 until u r on the right server. That way at least you can all start on the same server and dont need to worry about what class can get more gil.

Thats been changed Tinsun. Once you create a character in your first server you will continue to create characters in that server.

i was a thf from windurst and at like lvl 5 i started killing crawlers, they drop spools of silk thread which sell for about 200 gil. at about lvl 7 you can try to kill goblins, with gil finder you get like 30 gil per kill, but watch out for trains, you could also get signet and sell all the crystals you get, they are only like 14 gil but it adds up fast

Actually it hasn't. My first character I made was on the Diabolos server. I deleted it and made another character that got on the Bahamut server. 88 tries and 4 hours later, I FINALLY got on the server I wanted: Phoenix. I was waiting for my friend to get the WP for me and some other friends, it cost about 1000 gil there, so on some servers, the WP is definitely not cheap.

Theres a faster way to get on the server of your choice.(depending if you sat through those animations until it says "welcome to (server name)")
                          1.create your character
2.when it says your not linked to a handle, dont link yet, unstead, return to the screen where you can create/delete a character.
3."Select charcter" It should show your character, level, job, hometown, and server. If its not your server of choice, you can delete it and create a new one.

Damn man....I got onto Phoenix in 6 tries. My first server was Bismarck, and that didn't sound appealling. I just kept switching until I found something that sounded good.
