SMN lvl 30 - 40

Re: SMN lvl 30 - 40

Your good to lvl up for sure. Prepare for lots of curing. Your seer's gear will last you awhile. Theres a cool lvl 40 snm staff I forget the name of youll want to shnag for the 60-63 mp it gives summs.

Himmel stock.

Seer's will indeed last you a long time, at least till level 50 where you get the awesome but terrible looking Austere gear.
You'll at least want the body and hat.
The Seer's body can even last you until level 72 as resting piece.
The Austere body can last you to 75, the hat at least till 60.

Elemental staves:
At level 51 is quite an investment, if you don't have much money go with the light and dark staves first and work up from there.
Light and dark staff are crucial for both curing and resting, the others can be collected in any order depending on which avatars you use a lot.

Your most useful AF pieces:
Evoker's Spats (Legs)(Quest) enhances Avatar physical accuracy slightly.
Evoker's Pigaches (Feet)(Toraimarai Canal Coffer) Slightly enhances avatar evasion, handy for soloing and farming.
Evoker's Horn (Head)(Quest) If you have capped summoning skill the +5 skill is a blessing for both accuracy and buff duration.
And the best thing is, they are free!

Re: SMN lvl 30 - 40

my highest job is lvl 40, would I be able to solo getting the offering for Carby Mitts with a few stacks of silent oil and prism powder?

I would not suggest trying this at lvl 40 without help of someone with a character atleast lvl 70 or that has stoneskin still lvl 70 ish.

It will take you only 5 minutes to get there cuz theres a choco at the yhoat tele crystal location now. You go through the entrance of Den of Rancor that is in the Yhoat jungle. Sneak and Invise up then through that tunnel, if you stay right and dont drop down you'll zone right into the area of the Temple where the offerings spawn. Just into the zone in the hallway to the left 4/6 of the possible spawn spot (which are in little rooms with doors to open and a tonberry inside) and just through that hallway is a door to a small room full of agro mobs, maybe an NM blm and another door to go through for the hallway with the other 2 rooms that could spawn the offering. The problem is opening the door to look in without getting agro which is nearly impossible in those small rooms the offerings spawn in.

Take any upper lvl guy whos willing to open doors and then zone for you. With the door open and the mob hitting your buddy (who will survive np) youll be able to look in the rooms and see if theres a ???. When I did this I could not see the ??? unless I opened the doors. At 75 I am able to touch the ???, cast sleepga and walk out np, so anyone in the upper lvls should be able to help easy for the first hallway with 4/6 spawn locations. It is difficult to get through the room at the end of the hallway to go to the second hallway with the other 2 spawn locations. If you have to go through that difficult room non agro, have your buddy open the first door and zone the mobs, you then go in and use your silent oil, be carefull with the next door and go through, safely hide yourself and stay hidden till your buddy gets back to you help with the other 2 locations it can pop at. There a 4/6 Chance you wont have to go the the more difficult to reach area so you can return at a later time if its not there to avoid attempting that deep end.

Use the vanadiel atlus thats available online to see the pop spots then you should be good to go.

Re: SMN lvl 30 - 40

I found when I am the only healer and I notice that my mp is not being drained too much by the healing spells. I will use carbuncle for a little extra dmg, blood pact rage(admittedly not a lot) and healing. The low level blood pact ward healing spell only costs 6 mp and at level 47 it is healing for 90+. How I use carbuncle in the future is still yet to be determined, especially with more beneficial Ward and Rage spells now available. Just a few suggestions for anyone still leveling up smn.

Re: SMN lvl 30 - 40

Carby mitts will help more than you know in other areas of the game. Maybe during the EXP grind they will not benifit you all that much, but in the over all picture, Elemental staffs and Carby Mitts are a staple for any summoner that wants to be the most they can be.

YY robe is a pain in the butt. But it is the ultimate smn body armor.

This is only my 2 cents. (but i have been playing summoner for over 3 years now and it is my main job.)

Re: SMN lvl 30 - 40

Carby mitts are helpful, though not as much in exp. Carbuncle typically isn't used in parties beside pulling, so you won't receive the benefits the majority of the time.

Elemental staves at 51 are very helpful. HQ are a nice touch if you can afford them, but as most smns I know will reside themselves to main healing most of the time, the elemental bonuses will have a very small effect. But if you can afford them, they'll help a lot down the road.

You're set for leveling pretty much. If you have the means to do so, camping for a yingyang robe is an option. But thats a luxory item as well. I can't think of any particular piece of gear that you'll need or find necessary to level.

Re: SMN lvl 30 - 40

My SMN is currently lvl 33.

- I have all my avatars
- My summoning skill is maxed out
- I am at CoP 2-3

Is there anything else I should be working on for my SMN, or should I just concentrate on lvl'ing up?
