They can drop off literallly ANY leech in the game. No leech seems to be better than any other, just find ones low enough for you to kill.

An interesting thing I've noticed which is PROBABLY just a coincidence: When I was a RDM (my first main job) and I was killing leeches for myself or helping others, it took freaking forever for those things to drop. As a summoner, however, it seems like when Carbuncle gets the killing blow, I see a lot more of those stupid things than I have any use for. As I said, I'm sure it's just a coincidence. But if you have a really bored SMN friend, try it out maybe and see.

I spent all night hunting it, with an entire alliance, with THFs, in both Buburimu and Shakrami. For two people. Yeah...


On the other hand, yesterday I was helping a friend get their subjob items for boarding Permit, and accidently killed a leech with a -Ga, and got a Ruby for them without even trying.

I dont know exactly how many leeches I killed (I was ~36WHM at the time, and hadnt leveled my THF yet, ive leveled it since) But I I spent probably 6-8 hours killing them, after killing barely any in Buburimu, i died and found out my HP was in Selbina, I killed Leeches here all day (I raised people as well since I was there anyway). I could only take one or two before I had to rest up for MP.

After a long time farming them at Selbina I decided to go back to Bubu. I killed some at some beach, then me and a WAR teamed up (he didnt have THF either), and I got mine in about 8 kills. I stayed to get his, which took about another hour. Then we went our seperate ways.

I stayed on 4-6 hours to complete the quest, I felt totally drained afterwards, but its been one of the most enjoyable job quests IMO because its just such a good feeling when you complete it.

I helped someone complete theirs about a week ago, we both had THF sub and got it in about 20 minutes. Maybe a little luck, maybe not.

Most people get theirs from Buburimu I believe, but you have to be careful for link there (Thats what got me), since the beaches are kind of a closed in area.

just a quick update, a few days ago i roped in my theifey friend (with TH1), went to quifm, killed for about 2 hours and got a drop at last! we were hoping to get a couple so he could have one, so we'll head back another time.

Am in the process of collecting my weathers now. Have Yellow, blue, orange,indigo and green so far. Have made my first pilgrimage north to get my ice. Just waiting for thunder (gonna head to marshes when the wether report is good) and to Altepa for fire.

Thanks for the hints and tips everyone. At the end of the day it just seems to be luck, and killing as many blasted leeches as possible.
