I agree it is nice to have but seriously, how many whm's constantly keep Reraise or Reraise II when exping?

I never cast it at all anymore because it just doesn't pay. The 100 MP is better used to start the next chain or to help finish the last chain. So you rest to full then the puller wants to pull and you say stop, I need reraise and then uses a bunch of MP and then rests some more... lots of times exp areas are pretty competitive. Slacking on the pulls usually means that there are a lot less things for your pt to pull while someone else gets it.

It just feels inefficient to me. If things do screw up, there's always the option of someone to cast escape or sleep.

If all else fails, just summon an avatar, use 2hr and hit all those adds, and let leviathian tank a sec while everyone runs to zone.

I guess I just don't see reraise as a serious consideration for screw up times. No offense at those whm's that consider it vital. Just feeling that smn has other stuff in it's bag of tricks that are much more useful and there are novel uses of avatars that lots of people ignore and focus only on the shortcummings.

Like stated summoners can be main healer but they require assistance bad. They only have cure3 and if the tank is getting heavy damage it will make the summoner use only cureIIIS spamming left and right. This produces massive hate towards the summoner. Ends up the mob facing them. WAY too many time people leave the main heal to one person which is STUPID and IGNORANT.

Not only that making the summoner only cast cureIII will prevent them from casting any sort of blood pact. This is BAD for the party.

Smart WHM always keep reraise on period. If they don't, they are not doing their job. Cause if party gets wipe whm will need to be relied on for raising people.
And as far summoners being main healers, I heal in parties as 44 Summoner. Let me tell you, you can't take place of white really. Yeah you can heal and some buffs that is it thought.
You won't have full party heal in emergencies, you wont have raise1 till 50 if whm is subbed.
Summoner just like RDM is good to have if no whm but WHM is always superior as party healer.

Believe if you fought NM or Fenrir and they only had one SMN as healer, party be dead, end of story.

SMN can play main healer in normal experience parties at a certain level. I wouldn't recommend doing it at earlier levels just because they can't keep up. Your party shouldn't be even taking so much damage that all you do is heal. And it shouldn't be left to one person's responsibility. SMNs need the aid of the backup healer more often. I have PTed with WHMs before, but those were cases where the PT wanted to fight Tormentors in Den of Rancor, or cocktrices in Kuftal. But there are alternatives.(DragonAery, Ro'Maeve, Ru'Aunn Gardens, King Ranperre's Tomb) But this is at higher levels and you will have choices as you progress. Perhaps you will have even more choices to exp off of with CoP's expansion. Its not impossible to reach chain 5 on IT++ mobs with a SMN and a WHM in your party. But either spot would probably be better placed in for a damage dealer like a RNG or BLM. But you take what you can get that is available. Just know that your high damage blood pacts are at liability to do crap damage or simply miss. Just like a RNG WS, but usually a BRD's Preludes can help ameliorate that problem.

Best PTs SMNs can land themselves into is if the tank is a ninja, or your party can deal tons of damage in a short amount of time(2 RNGs or 2 BLMs...depending on setup) When you exp, you want to kill the mob as fast as possible and still be alive to tell the story. If you kill the mobs fast enough, there really isn't much curing to be done since they can't inflict damage when they are dead. WHMs can't contribute to the damage, but SMNs can...and they can keep the PT's healthbars up with hardly any strain on their MP(Unless you are a Galka...then I dunno)

SMNs don't play main healer in BC fights like Fenrir or HNMs. They deal damage...but that's only if they are at Lv.70+. Spinning Dive and Predator's Claw does better damage than Eclipse Bite...even if it does cost less MP.
