Help on mini-battles

ok..... I defeated all the avatars with almost no trouble except for Garuda (which took me 3 times) and Leviathan who i have yet to beat. I use the three Searing Lights method and have fought each one on lightsday. For some reason leviathan is only taking 50-100 damage on my Searing Lights, which of course leads to my death :dead: .

Why is this happening and how can i fix it? PLEASE HELP ME OUT

btw.... my summon skill is capped a 63

bad luck? i beat leviathen first try.
i bought alot of def/vit+ eq and spell interuption rate down stuff, and brought the following items:
5 X HI Potions
3 X Potion
1 X Boiled Crab
1 X Hi Ether
3 X Mulsum

Hefty cost, but it practicly unsures victory if you use common sense.
