SMN AF vs. Austere Armor, and questions...

  • SMN AF vs. Austere Armor, and questions...

    Hello, was wondering if they had recentely changed the stats on Summoner AF. I remember people complaining in the past that the problem with SMN AF is that the enmity minus stat is for the avatar. Well I noticed my friend's SMN AF on the second line of information said: "Enmity -4."

    Well I was looking at the Austere set (the new level 50 SMN-only armor) and that it also said "Enmity -2."

    So my question is: Is the SMN AF Still -enmity ONLY to the avatar, and is the Austere set -enmity to the caster or to the avatar. I was thinking that if Austere was -enmity to caster, It would be a better choice over the AF, at least for the time being.

    If something says "Enmity: -2" its giving YOU -2 Enmity.
    If its for the Avatar it says "Avatar enmity: -2".

      Ok cool, thats what I thought. =P

      So did the SMN AF at one time or another, didnt it actually say "Avatar Enmity -3? " I could have sworn it was, but I might be going crazy. Thanks.

      Also what do you guys think about the stats of Austere VS. SMN AF? Full Austere drops the avatar perpetuation costs, and its most important stat drops the time you wait to use blood pacts! SMN AF however gives more -enmity to the caster, and more plusses to Summoning Magic.

      So to you which stats do you like more Austere or SMN AF?

        For one, a summoner should NEVER get hate later levels in a party, -enmity gear or not.
        You cant heal a large enough portion of somebodies HP to really get a lot of aggro, and for any big damage or other spells/blood pacts etc the avatar gets the hate, not you.

        You might notice, if you summon an avatar and attack something that links, like a hill lizard for example:
        IF you kill the hill lizard you originally send the avatar to attack, and there is a remaining hill lizard left over from the linking still aggro to the avatar, you can release your avatar and the linked hill lizard will not have any hate for you, and will continue on its walking around in circles. The hill lizard you send the avatar to attack first however, will have minor amounts of hate for you because you used the command to attack.

        Summoner really gets Very little hate ever, even when using astral flow, its nothing near as bad as say, benediction or invincible.

          Gatts, thanks for your replies, I was wondering though, how do you feel on the AF vs. Austere armor issue? As Im level 45 summoner, and definetely going to get the austere at level 50, and make sure to do my AF quests anyways so I can have both sets of armor.

          If you are already that high of level, which armor do you prefer? If you aren't which do you think you'd prefer. So far I'm leaning to mostly wearing the Austere.

            TO me the austere hat , gloves and boots give me the most benefit will Af bodies and hume female jse pants give great mp boosts.
            the summoner Af2 set up I have gloves so far are up there with the Jse set.


            Evoker's Bracers level 54
            MP+15 VIT+4 Damage done by Avatars are occasionally converted into MP Summon:Enmity-2

            Austere Cuffs level 50
            MP+15 CHR-1 Summoning magic skill +2 "Blood Pact" ability delay -1

            Summoner's Bracers level 72
            MP+25 Summoning Magic skill+10 Fulfillment of contract use interval-2 Summon : Accuracy rate up


            heres the hume female RSEII gloves
            Marine F Gloves level 62 (Only for Hume - female)
            MP+35 VIT-3 AGI-3 INT+4 MND+4 CHR+3

            Summoner Af2 bracers are kinda the mix of the jse and the Af1 set. as far as defense goes.. If something wants to eat you ,, you're eaten.
            go for mp and skill up .. also try to get great INT gear.

                Basically what i was saying in my last post is enmity isnt much of an issue, or shouldnt be if you have even a half decent party. so you decide which gear you like better.

                  INT gear helps determine wether or not summons magic gets resisted by the mobs and also affects the damage variable for the 1 and 4 series spells , Also their status affects like sleepga and such. Testing with fellow summoners, we noticed certain summons powers, namely sleepga as an example gets resisted or fails alot with low or basic INT.

                  Since many summoners still use whm as main SJ their INT is lower than that of a smn/blm or smn/rdm. So basically higher INT = more damage less resisting. Check my guide up top for more info.

                    well, as a taru with low 600ish hp at lvl 60+, main healer, -enmity is very useful, especially if you have something like a ninja tank. Fact is that things go wrong sometimes, at these times you need to heal more (you need to heal or someone will die - you if you heal or the tank if you don't heal). This has nothing to do with just bad groups either, everyone is bound to make mistakes.

                      SO you say int DOES have an effect on summons. Does it have any effect on the amount of physical damage, or is it just magical? Sorry if off topic, but I've been wondering this for a while sence most summoners sub whm and I figured int woul play into a summon some how.

                        Yeah it does same s your mnd affects an avatar in white magic defense.

                        As far as the summons physical power I havent tested it yet but I will try to soon and let you know the results.
