  • Summoner Monk

    Heya

I've been spending some time trying to work out a diffrent combo that wont be utterly useless yet have some kind of funky aspect to it

now i was looking at monk seeming they are fun and summoner because the idea of being able to control my fav summons,

Now assuming i was to go Taru Taru Monk to start off and achive summoner at 30 how would everyone think it woudl fare ?

now iam not sure but in my eyes it seems that it wouldnt be that bad

    a) as a taru i'd get about 900 mana (according to warcry) at level 70 which seems like alot of mana

    b) being a monk sub i'd get boosted hp

    c) also counters yadda yadda

    d) raised natrual def

Now everyone says to go summoner / whm or a caster and i can understand why for the greater mana pool but iam curious how often does someone cast spells rather then summon i mean if i work my butt of to get a summon i'd rather use that then be some bellow par whm ect.

I am wondering if i go summoner / monk i have the idea of fighting along side of my summon so i can use it to dish out Fire IV ect while iam along side of it beating down on the enemey with boosted h2h abilities.

anyway these are the views i have fabricated could someone care to comment rather then just saying summoner / anything not a caster = shit ?

    thanks : )

I don't know where to start..... ok got one.

A.) With having even lets say a Lv 70 SMN and then subbing a MNK you are first off only going to be able to get half of the def and attack boost. Even with the boost for Def the Summoner will still have less Def than a BLM/WHM at the same lv.

B.) I can see where you are trying to go with the attacking part(But only with the Staves of course) but still might I remind you Summoners can't do anything that involves keeping any Def so as not to die if a HNM comes around and bonks you on the head. There attack still will be horribly low. "BUT" you will have some staff bonuses if you Lv that up with your monk ^.~

C.) Oh dear god, Does the Summoner ever cast any spells other than SMNs? ....... two words "Cure Tank". Begin a Summoner it is also required (by most parties, some ppl like to have a little fun some time) that you have a
White Mage or Red Mage Sub job. Beginning a Summoner at Lv 70 and trying to kill anything at your around your Lv with a subjob monk is......not going to look pretty.

In all seriousness I have no control over what you want to do in this game but, just warning you not too many people in your Party will be thrilled at the fact that you are going to run up to the Monster and smack it hopeing you'll actually hit the thing. But yet again I don't control you and this is a "free" game so do whatever you wish.
