Focus More On Mind or Intelligence?

Y'know...
That's a good question, because SMN are equal in both of them so they don't naturally have strength in over the other. I think both SMN/WHT and SMN/BLK would make fine jobs. The MND will raise your MAG defense, and both will probably affect your summons. I think INT is MORE likely to add to SMN strength than MND, plus with the BLK you will get I think the highest MP combo in the game which is very crucial to a SMN. I think SMN/BLK would make the best SMN, but WHT is right behind it, plus you can heal! I guess it's up to you, do you want your sub to be attack or healing based?

Concerning the two subjobs, a few people have already clearly pointed out that Whitemage is more practical than Blackmage as a subjob. I'll just post a some quotes and call it a night. *rubs eyes*

I have stated this before but.....SMN/BLM COMBO DOES NOT WORK.
SMN/BLM can use for lvls 1-10.
If i was looking for members for pt, I would not choose SMN/BLM. The blm spells will not do any good. Since blm is a sub it truely doesnt do much help in pt.

It's true that MP is the most important thing for a Summoner, and a BLM sub technically gives the Summoner the best boost in that stat, however, casting BL magic is not an option, really. You'll eat up your MP for low level spells. The WHM sub gives less of an MP boost (not by much, tho) and gives you spells that are always useful. None of this is my logic: it was all very well explained by Nad in another thread. I'm just expanding on his thoughts. His analysis is absolutely right.

Can heal which is a good party element. You'd be a super buffer by buffing the entire party with your summon and then healing people when the need arises, taking a load off the pure WHM. As a SUM you barely gather hate, so you'll be pretty free to cast cures.
/BLM
More MP basically, but not gonna be useful for anything else. You can use dezone which is great, but parties won't recruit a SUM for dezone, they want your summon to buff them and sometimes serve as an extra melee. You're never gonna touch your BLM spells... especially when your summon is out. You lose curing which isn't convinient.
Overall /WHM is more popular and also more functional. /BLM works because you get more MP, and dezone, on top of some BLM spells.

Anywho, if you look in the... different summoner combos topic I think, they discussed what stats may possibly boost the summons and Sheila, our lovely moderator, made clear that all summons have fixed damage for abilities so your idea on INT boosting their damage is out too... for the moment. Also, (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but I believe I read somewhere that the mp difference between blackmage and whitemage as subjobs isn't exactly alot, and I don't feel like looking up their passive and active abilities soits up to you. You can throw a stat calculator in my face on the subject if you want, but those are said to be not so accurate so I wouldn't trust them anyway.

Well, I'm pretty sure that when Sheila said that DMG is fixed at all levels for Summons' attack, she also said (and this logically follows, anyways, and I've repeated this) that the INT and MND (and CHR) stat is a "play stat" for the SMN. It has no effect. SMN have the highest MP. MP is the be all end all of the job. That's not calculated by either of these stats. And it's worth repeating, so I'll repeat it: damage is fixed for the attacks of summons.
Shall we go for a trilogy? Damage is fixed for the attacks of summons.
Therfor, INT and MND mean nothing as they affect the SMN job as a SMN job (obviously it will effect your character as a character as it regards magic defense, how long +/- statuses last, etc)

As far as the whole summoner /blm i snot good topic
I am a summoner and sub black mage often, I dont very much get looked over for PT calls.
I really think its th esituation that determines how good a class i san dalso the player behind the character.
I tell you sometimes it amazes me that people say that you wont get a PT for so and so reason.
Today in a level up PT in qufim
we had a rdm/smn , whm/smn, and blm/smn.
I guess all three of us got looked over for a PT .
I know that form a lot of the PTs ive been in that soem smn have had whm as sj and some had blm.
either some people dont know how to play the two or they get passes over for PT for another reason other than subbing an oFF sj with smn.
My rdm doesnt even have alot f rdmonly spells since they cost alot but i never get turned down for a PT.
The only way a jpn player can turn me down is they 100% use kanji to tell me no.
But that has never happened.
Where'd did the summoner only sj whm rumour come from? It's Official Promathia Hates me....
