  • Samurai question

Okay, if I want to be a Sam/War. I would have to wait until lvl 30 to pick Samurai, right? So, I would start off with something like Warrior/Theif. But then when I get my War up to lvl 30 to switch to Samurai as my main and Warrior as sub... would my sub Warrior be lvl 30, or go back to lvl 1? I am misunderstanding something...

Actually, this isn't specifically a Samurai question, it's an general advanced job question. So anyone that knows please tell me? ^^

Your have job at most can be half your main job. So at level 1 i don't think you can even have a subjob. At level 2 it would be 1 though. I don't know for sure how they go about it. They might make them both one but you might not even get credit for a sub job at such a low level. Even if you do have it as your subjob at level 1 it is pretty much useless.
Do not fear death but don't forget it either. It remains by your side at all times. But once forgotten it jumps out to remind you of it's presence.

No wait I know all of that. My question was if I got my War job up there, would it go back down to level one as a sub job so I don't have to wait until level 60 with my Samurai to sub my Warrior.

what it does is, it just caps off the level of your warrior while you use a low level sam, so if you find you dont like sam you can go back to war and be lvl 30 still

Ok... when you lvl WAR to 30, you can switch to samurai

But Samurai will start at lvl one. Even with WAR sub.

When your SAM reaches lvl 10, he will be SAM 10/ WAR 5
When your SAM reaches lvl 40, he will be SAM 40/ WAR 20
When your SAM reaches lvl 65, he will be SAM 65/ WAR 30

OK, now you might want to switch back to WAR who is lvl 30 still... level the WAR from 30 to 32.

Now switch back to your lvl 65 SAM and you will be a...
              SAM 65/ WAR 32

              Hope that made it clear

Kosh is right, by lvling up WAR first before choosing SAM (cause you know that you'll be using war as a sub anyways) will save you A LOT of time. You won't even have to lvl WAR anymore and concentrate on just the SAM till the next lvl cap.

There's pre-req's to becoming a Samurai aren't there? I haven't really gotten any confirmation about it, so I was just curious...

yeah - like the other advanced jobs you're required to have at least one job at level 30 + before you're even eligable to obtain samurai. so that means ur gona have a level 30 + job and most likely a level 15 job which was serving as your sub job. then u have to complete one of the more challenging adv quests in order to actually earn samurai heh.

Oh schweetness. So do you know what you have to do Nodachi? And what would be the best way to start off, Warrior naturally, but subbing say... either Thief or Monk?

I was just gonna wait until I start playing, but if someone could tell us what you have to do in order to become a Samurai, that'd be really cool.

well . . . the leveling is pretty explanitory lol - get to 30 . . . and the quest can be found on the homepage of the site. as for recomendations as to which jobs you want to level? it really doesn't matter a whole lot as long as they work as a decent combo - otherwise it's just preference really. But you'd be fine with either your War/Mnk or War/Thf. any specific questions just PM me or post again.
