STR & DEX Gear for Enpi = no more dam?

I use dex and acc gear before renkei and when I do ws I would go swap + sa + ws and do it. Yet, last night there was another samurai that would outdamage me at times and she was /war. Is it too early at 42 to do /thf? I go from about 12 ACC and +6 DEX to 20ish STR for renkei. Any help would be great.

Just to point this out, Enpi is 2 hits, so if your swaping your acc gear for str, you could possibly be missing the 2nd attack quite often.

And if your missing your 2nd hit, its not to much of a stretch to imagine him dealing more damage than you.

And just to add my person preference, I really liked subbing war until 65, but I could imagine that you could start subbing thf a bit earlier and use Yukikaze.

Well, imo youll do more DoT with war sub than thf sub at lower levels. From my experience it's only worth subbing thf when you end lv3 renkei.

too many low people are overlooking this. too many people are trying to play sam to be the main damage in the party. the fact is most people will outdamage you no matter what you sub, but you're more likely to keep even with war sub. sam only becomes a great damage dealer end game on hnm's. where, aside from rangers, we're the only job that can build tp quickly and dish out high damage with ws.

don't sub thf in exp unless the pt leader asks you to. you're only slowing yourself down.

I never join someone elses pt let alone sit there and flag. So I make my own PT's everytime. I didn't use my STR gear in last nights pt and I got 130~300 Enpi + Sneak @level42-44. I got at least 150TP everytime, I needed to renkei with both the DRK and Ninja. I could get 300+ every now and then but i'm still not sure if the STR gear was helping with WS or not.

Most of you are saying /thf is for endgame..? I think it's good right now...usually whenever i'm not doing enpi with sneak I get from 30~140ish WS damage. I know sams aren't there to deal damage but I get TP just fine (miss once or twice a fight). I even hit the mob without Range ACC gear just fine. So I go to the second thing on my list...damage. What else?

Well, war sub gets you berserk for now, and at 50+ double attack as well. From my personal experiences Berserk>Fuiuchi for sam.

60+ you should start using /THF, since you get your first WS that the STR modifier is 75% :3

Well I got 45 today and leveled with the same level samurai. He was samurai/warrior and I was /thief again. I didn't switch my equip at all and beat him at least 4/5 times on WS damage. I hit more often than him to.......>.>

Well, youre used to thf I know...but having a higher dmg WS doesnt mean you do more dmg total. His regular attacks should have been higher. Also, he could have had subpar equipments if he didn't.

Just /try/ war sub in your next PT and see what you think ~.~

kinda off topic, but i've heard that when you sub thf, TA is only for giving hate to someone else and it doesnt add damage like it does with thf main. anyone know if this is true?

I in a sense dont believe that....the PT I had today I was /thf again. When ever I would use sneak + ws I would normally get 30-150 more damage than a regular enpi. Using DEX and ACC gear.

Sneak attack for thief sub only garauntees a critical hit and ups WS damage. Trick attack has no bonus when it's subbed other than being able to transfer the hate onto someone else.
