    The Patch notes have been updated, and from what I can tell it seems like SAM's are definitly not going to be at the bottom of the melee spectrum anymore.

    Zanshin already seems to be a really amazing Job Trait. 100% Attack after missing an Attack? If this Job Trait continues indefinitly (which is a 50/50 chance) that would mean SAM's would have a 100% chance to get XX TP during every Weapon Delay.

    I have two theories relating to this;
    Theory a)
    Zanshin Will Continue Until you Hit.
    ex: Attack (Miss), Zanshin (Miss), Zanshin (Miss), Zanshin (Hit), Weapon Delay.

    Theory b)
    Zanshin Will only happen Once.
    ex: Attack (Miss), Zanshin (Miss), Weapon Delay.

    Personally, I am hoping for it to be Theory A, but knowing S-E I think it will be more Theory B).

    At lv.75, SAM's can further INCREASE the amount of TP gained per attack, and DECREASE the cool-down of Meditate. Not to mention the new Third Eye Buff, combined with Relic Helmet is pretty awesome.

    Just wondering what all you SAM's and non-SAM's think about this.

    It's not 100% double attack if you miss.

    "Samurais may attack again immediately after missing a target"

    That means a CHANCE. If it's anything like Double Attack, Kick Attack, and Triple Attack, it'd be around 10% chance.

    However, lower recast on Meditate, the new job trait, and store TP up is really going to overpower SAM/THF on HNM. Stronger then RNG on non-kited or Suzaku I'm sure.

      Theory B seems most reasonable. It helps them without making them too strong at the same time. So they'll miss then get another swing at the mob, miss or landed weapon delay will start. I'm interested in how often this will kick in and how far you can bring up the rate through Merits.

      I agree Nny. SAMs are really gonna start to shine. They already are great DD on HNMs. This update has made them even better.

        i like the new job trait!
        but one little thing...............
        they didnt say what is the level to adquire the zanshin attack -_-

        about the third eye readjustement i expected more.....
        like less recast time or dodge more attacks....

        i hope we ll get new job abbilities in the next update

          This should come into play around the time monks get counter. That seems about right. Until there is more info, it will be impossible to tell with any kind of confidence.:sweat:

            Further pissed on how SE completely overpowers SAM in this patch: Merit point decreases Meditate by 10 seconds. 2:10 Meditate anyone? Jesus Christ, talk about overpowered.

              war only gets to merit double attack, berserk, and aggressor. yeah, sam sure is overpowered now.

              the only people that are overpowered in this game became more overpowered with this patch and the new meritable abilities, and that is black mage.

                Do any of those allow for somebody to do 1k+ WSs every 1-2 minutes? If one is properly geared, SAM is incredibly broken on HNM and fully merited Meditate timer.

                And, black mages get madly resisted on HNM. If you parse a fight, you'll actually see this. On anything that a BLM doesn't get resisted on they are easily the most powerful, but the new merits doesn't help resist rate...only the raw power. If it gets resisted, they're still going to do crap damage.

                  While this is true we're going to be forced to alot 5 points to meditate only, instead of increase the Zanshin ability. 3 minutes is fine for HNM situations but in quick chaining EXP PTs it feels extremely sluggish when you rely on your WS damage to make your job. I can see your arguement in saying they will be 'broken' in terms of HNM situations but i still feel the raw over time damage of RNG and WAR balance it out. And of course DRK not only has the damage but lovely stun as well. I see them as a more useful/select job for HNM now, not so much as being broken.

                  Also Zanshin doesn't kick in a ton. Took 5 misses for first to kick in. (this was tested on Too weak giants in the Tower)

                    agreeing with nodachi on this one....... and yar.... Zanshin hardly kicks in... took all my acc gear off and went chasing mobs around for an hr..... I HAVE YET SEEN IT WORK! so...... hahahahah... but the merrits into med and changing third eye was a nice thing

                      I just might use it on third eye because or relic pants, but will probably go all meditate.

                        Just lowers the ability you choose. I just don't know if we can cap out the 5 points on medidate, then use 5 points for Zanshin, as well as third eye, or if we're only allowed 5 points to alot to those 3 choices. If my SAM were 75 i could find out ; ; but can only view the new Merit Options for Bard.

                        Cause i'd love to do them all, starting with Meditate. Then max out Zanshin followed up by third eye. Third eye would be great for Solo or even PT sense but for HNMs it doesn't seem very useful at all.

                          5 points to alot in meditate, third eye, zanshin, WARDING CIRCLE (WOOOO!!!), and.. store tp.

                          going for all warding circle, yeah!!


                          i.e. 5 points in meditate = 0 points in the other 4





                          edit: has anyone else noticed an accuracy boost since you patched? i went to dynamis today in hopes of getting zanshin to proc a few times, i took off all my acc gear except haubergeon and couldn't miss -at all-. i still have yet to see how zanshin works. if it did go off it looks just like a double attack :/

                            i dont understand why you say this.
                            we needed something like this.
                            i only have lv 34 with sam and i realized that when i m in pt good part of my dmg comes from my ws, thats how i can compare my dmg with drk`s or war`s cause they ll always have better weapons (scythes and great axes have more DMG than g.katanas of same lv) and they have better offensive abbilities.
                            i know there is a long way from 34 to 75 and i dont know how works a sam in higher levels but there is one thing i know and is that is not fair to say that sam are overpowered


                            talking about zanshin.....
                            do you have it in the list of job traits?
                            maybe thats the reason why you didnt see it yet...:confused:

                              I see them as a more useful/select job for HNM now, not so much as being broken.
                              I just realized that SAM would be bound by the SATA timer with AF2 gloves, haha.

                              Basically meditate > SATA WS @100%. 60%TP, hit the mob atleast 4 times within the next minute, SATA WS @100%. Meditate's up, but no SATA, and have to wait the remaining 50 seconds to use it again if you want to SATA the WS (Or in otherwards, a 3 minute down time). So doesn't actually change much unless you WS w/o SATA (Which means using ACCgear, which means horrible damage) or if you just store up all of the TP (I.E. Meditate> SATA WS @160+% TP, 2:10 passes, Meditate> SATA WS@160+% TP) though I'd imagine that being less damage. Unlike WAR WSs, I don't think SAM's WS is bound by the "300% TP only" rule for good damage on WS, as I've seen very good numbers in the 100-200 range.

                              And I was really pissed before about Zanshin being basically double attack, but apperently it sucks so oh well, haha.

                              To add on to what Nodachi said, Third Eye is 2 seconds, so :50 timer fully capped.
