  • level 30 farming and the samurai

currently i am a level 24 whm omw to becoming 30 and unlocking samurai. i have thf already level'd to 15 for TH. my question is this:

i want to purchase the ochi kote. on garuda i believe they are still at 700k. When my samurai reaches level 30, where should i go to farm? I have the patience to camp NMs but im sick of bot players getting them the second they spawn. Im hoping at lvl 30 to farm somewhere for about 10k an hour(if its possible for me to do so) So where do i farm and what do i farm when i get there? thanks in advance for any info ^^

I wouldn't really worry about getting these gloves for a while. It's unrealistic to expect a lv 34 samurai with that being his highest job to have the gloves. You can't solo the nm until about lv50 depending on your job, and 700k at that (or really any level) would take way too long to farm.
Sorry I can't really tell you how to make 10k an hour, but my opinion is dont worry about these gloves for a while.

when i got my Ochiudo kote, it was 200k...
Yhea it will take you forever to farm 700k at your lvl
      maybe start fishing?

I actually farmed and got kote at level 30. This was like last january though, and they were only 300k or so. But bought two archer rings too, so it probably came out to around 700k. It wasn't fast, but I had quite a bit of time to blow while I waited on my friends to level up and decide which jobs they wanted to take 30+. I also opted for the slow and steady farming over NM camping. I did a mix of things so I wouldn't get burned out.

Crawlers in saruta for stacks of silk. 10k each at the moment on my server, think they were significantly less at the time though. I've noticed while running through lately that they seem to be plentiful nowadays, had to run forever and fight over them during NA release.

Horo ruins. I still farm here on occasion. Not sure which of the ruins it is, but its the easternmost tower in east saruta. Up near the 3 mage door/entrance to the canal, theres a room full of lv 20ish gobs. Easy prey at 30, so can't exactly just mow them down and have to be a bit careful. Random armor drops worth 300-500, sneak scrolls 500g, invis scrolls 1k, all to npc merchants. Stacks of fire crystals if you brought signet - 3kish/stack. Can steal silver beastcoins 4k/stack. A string of lower gobs before that also drop vendor armor and animal glue -7k/stack. Chest keys drop. Unfortunately the dungeon is split up and you only have access to half of the chest spawns at any given time, but should still get quite a few of them. A 6k moth axe seems to pop out of the chests more often than not, sometimes 500-1k gil instead though. Boggarts drop regen scrolls , and if you have the portal charm from one of the earlier windy missions, Wendigo's drop test answers(Rare, can only have 1 at a time) 7k @ AH. Bogarts and Wendigo's are probably a bit much to kill at 30 though.

        There's always fishing for moats.

If you dont mind spending a couple bucks, get a pair of mules, windy and sandy seem to work the best, and get your cooking up high enough to make insect paste. Take a couple hours, fill both mules to the brim (Inv and Mogsafe), and while you are out farming, take a break every couple of hours to log in the mules and refill their AH slots with paste. Not super amounts of money per sale here, but insect paste is stupidly profitable, at least on my server. Buy all the ingredients off npcs/regional vendors for best returns. Paste sells for 500/stack on my server right now, and fairly quickly too. If they sell for 500 a stack, 15k and a couple hours in ingredients/time will usually get you 80k in sales, or 65k profit in a few days of logging the mules in and out usual. Its just a pain transferring all the paste.

I'm sure there is a million other ways to make it too. Or don't worry about it as said, nobody will expect you to have it.

        Anywho, g'luck.

Wow don't you just hate Garuda's economy. Food is also 3.5k/stack for the melee (atm, not counting chiefkabobs)

As for good spots to farm on my homeland, I would suggest Spook @ KRT (I knew a DRK that constantly camped it as 30war/15thf) or Yughott Grotto. Yughott is ok for mining, it's close to a town, and near some of the mining points there is an NM that always drops a Hermit Wand and sometimes Priests Robe (3.5k, and 35k respectively..when I quit playing months ago..heh..back when Neckchopper was 10k..)

Another thing that also helps save money is walking, an RDM friend bought phalanx by walking. (Aka instead of teleport and chocobo, the gil you would have spent send to a mule, and youll have a lot of gil saved up)

Just tips though, not all too much a lvl30 can do that I know of.

As my final Garudan suggestion, do gobby bag quests in Jeuno then live in tahrongi. Another RDM friend made over 500k spending weeks farming dhalmel air elementals, beehive chips, gausebit grass and twinstone earrings in meriphtaud...

Just do what you seem practical and focus on making money rather than spending it. I strongly suggest muling and keeping gil on mules, because if you can't spend gil if you don't have it on hand.
