Could somebody just tell me how fun it is, difficulty, average cost pre-30 etc, that would be excellent

Well I'm only lvl50 so might need input from high lvl Samurais but heres my opinion

Cost
before lvl30 Samurais are cheap. Period. Only thing expensive about Samurais are the G-katanas. So if ur lvling Sam up to 30 be sure to get +1 gears cause u shouldn't face financial crisis at low lvls.

Samurais are one of the "cheaper" jobs overall. Ofcourse, u "should" have above-average gear (ex: Sniper, Ochi, etc.) if u want to rival other dds in (pure)dmg and make a name for urself. U might choose not to play as Samurais after u hit 30 but, hell just to let u know

Fun Factor
Pre30 Samurais suck. All u have is third eye(which isn't bad but u shouldn't be taking hits till SATA comes along or ur back-up tanking) U gain like 1% more tp than other melees...

Well coming from a Samurai I love this job
Meditate is godly, the look of the G-katanas, the style, I like em all :sweat:

Difficulty
Pre30, if u have trouble playing as Sam, u should go to a mental hospital asap. All u do is press ur WS macro when ur partner has TP and maybe make a pull macro.

When u hit 30 and get meditate and other useful sub-job abilities, ur main concern is using Meditate WISELY. Depending on whose on ur pt, the way u use med changes greatly. Know the rate of ur own TP gain and ur SC partners TP gain and always be in command of the SC. Its ur job to do so.

not getting into costs...(melee jobs are quite expensive, all of them, cept pld until 73 ), sam pre30 was fun for me, but boring.

At 30+, meditate is your friend. It causes you to think ahead some.

Difficulty? Not 'too hard' to play. Requires thinking to when to use Meditate and other abilities from SJ, but it's nothing like say a Monk or something like Black Mage.

Try it out. Get to 30, then decide to ditch or keep. We can't decide for you :p

Cost to 30, not more then any other meele. After 30 expensive like any other meele.

Odin:

2x Sniper = ~1 Mio
Haubergeon = ~1,8 Mio
Kote = ~500 K
Emp Harpin = ~300 K
Life Belt = ~80K

Depends how often do u wanna hit, how much damage you wanna do and how often you wanna get a PT invite.

Fun - for myself SAM ist unbeatable. Don't wanna change to any oder Mainjob. Skillchaining is fun and you enable a lot of skillchains with Meditate and TP Store.

But it's like any other job - you have to play it and if you have fun do it, if not take another job.
