Anyone know if this has some kind of hidden effect, like Kung Fu Shoes do for MNK? Just looking at the stats, it's horrid... same as the seven levels lower kanesada+1 - which sucked in the first place - but more expensive.

Yes the Honebami does have a hidden effect, it is extremely powerfull against Skeletons.

Far as i can tell, its a Crush Type Great Katana, compared to the rest of ours which are blades. Yes it performs very well on bones, at lvl 72 on the ones in the Tomb i hit between 80-160 non crit. True we dont get that per swing of fist like monks, but we come up close second with these. It also did very well vs Aura pots in Tulia, so i think it's added bonus is that its crush type, not just vs undead bones.

lol sams already do decent damage vs bones, I'll grab one of these before heading out to a ranperres PT and let you all know how this g.katana really is vs them -_-

Messhikimaru dmg to Fallen Evacuees- ~140

Honebami- 175 was pretty much my lowest, and normal was somewhere around 190~ (hit MANY times well into 200s and crit a few times for 300)

Add the fact that I am Mithra (low STR) and this weapon outshines all others for SAM vs bones.

I was using Honebami frequently for bones but decided not to use it anymore. For some reason, when I used it to fight bones in King Rampere's Tomb, my regular hits were doing more damage than usual, but my ws damage was crappy. I was sometimes hitting for 220-290 with Kasha. I have a theory, and it's just my guess, but it seems to me that ws damage doesn't take the special effects of Honebami into consideration. So, I think when you do a ws, it just like doing it with a regular 68 dmg GKT and doesn't take into effect the blunt type dmg of the Honebami, which I don't like cuz 68 dmg is pretty low at this point. And another annoying thing is that when you pull the occasional Lemures (ghost type mob) you're gonna be hitting it for crap dmg like 40-60 per swing with the Honebami. I guess blunt type weapons have a dmg penalty on these types of mobs. However, when I switched back to Kotetsu +1, my ws dmg rarely dipped below 300 dmg. I don't know, maybe its just me...

Nevermind, hype it up all you want. I bought one for 15k just for the hell of it even though I can't use it for 12 levels. Prices just kept plummeting, but I think they may go back up a bit higher when the AH runs out.
