Attack or Accuracy?

I'm going to get SAM tomorrow, and I'm going to be subbing RNG. (Please don't tell me what I should sub. I have THF levelled already, but I'm not going to level WAR, so I'm either RNG or THF depending on the party.)

I've read that high-end SAMs' accuracy is pretty horrid, so a good bit of DEX and Accuracy and Ranged Accuracy gear would be required.

However, I've also read arguments that SAMs should be balanced, and should also invest in Attack and Ranged Attack gear.

Holding this balance would require a mix of attack and accuracy, depending on your race. (Mithra would go for more attack, Elvaan would try for more accuracy..)

As a hume, my stats are balanced. So, does this mean I should put my emphasis on being balanced between Attack and Accuracy (or as far as I can be depending on the equipment available)?

I know that I'll be macro-ing in Ranged Accuracy gear (such as Bone, Beetle, and Scorpion Rings) early on (unless I want to buy 260k Archer's Rings), but..

In a nutshell, my accuracy and attack should be fairly balanced.. but should I put more emphasis on accuracy?

Get R.Acc to switch to when you fire your arrows.
SAM Acc isn't too crappy, with about 20 being minimalistic, you will have a great hit rate.

i'd just like to let you know that sam/rng before 55 REALLY sucks, and i'd say don't start subbing it until 60+, but eh.. up to you.. just keep archery capped out every level.

for normal sam melee, you can never get enough +accuracy gear, and i'll go along with geo in saying that with minimal being 20-25 your hit rate will be fine, even moreso if you party with bards often.

you'll want to always have +1 versions of bows and ranged accuracy rings, and any other ranged accuracy gear you can find. for sub rng you'll also want to stack up on agi moreso than dex.

if you can find ranged attack gear, you might want to try it out. melee attack gear is kinda meh, i don't really see any big advantage in getting it, other than saying "haha look at me i spent 400k on these gloves that give +20 attack! am i cool or what?!" at higher levels you'll see really diminishing returns on +atk, so it's not really worth it.


i'd say yes, emphasize accuracy a metric ton, and don't bother worrying about attack.
