Thx for the lesson B0rked, like I said, I'll prolly lvl a variety of jobs to sub. Believe me, I might be more inclined to sub WAR, if I didn't work 37 lvls as a MNK!

My first job coming into the game was a monk. I got monk to 30, did Samurai quest went Sam/mnk until lvl 10 then i did war for provoke.

Later on decided i needed money so got thf to 15, so i used thf sub from like 20-40 then went back to war for berserk, and double attack.

But if you wana be a "good" sam id level up war and thf if you have the time, war sub is good for pre level 60 because sneak attack + 2hit ws's suck. So doing over all better dmg <berserk, double attack> would be better.

But after 60 its a diffrent ballgame, you get koki, yukikaze, gekko and kasha all work real well with sneak attack because they are single hit.

The DEX ratio is lower than 1:2 for accuracy. STR has a bigger impact on melee jobs. Also, your still going to be purchasing the same equipment as a mithra and you are still going to hit as much, but the STR will allow you to do more damage.
IMO it goes.

The 6 missing DEX is not going to affect your accuracy alot, only your criticals and your SA/TA. STR will probably affect the SA/TA more than DEX because the SA is subbed, and since it is a normal hit, the bonus will be small. But STR will infcrease the ability to do more damage. Its my theory.

Wouldn't Galka > Mithra? Though Mithra's have the highest DEX they also have the second lowest STR. Galka has second highest DEX and second highest STR.

About galka and elvaan. I remember this whole monk debate, elvaan vs galka a while back. Anyway the difference in dex and hp,vit,str...Anything that will be used...it's so small it's not going to make a noticable difference.

The only thing really seperating the 2 races is looks, their stats are so close it won't make a difference in this job, go on what you think looks cooler honestly because they'll have almost dead even damage. And personally I think the galka is the coolest looking samurai, a GK is freaking huge equipped on a galka. Incase you didn't know, the size of a weapon is in proportion to its race.

Also if it's least popular you want, it's galka you should go. This is definitely the rare race on my server and I'm sure others. Elvaan and hume are the most popular by far IMO so keep that in mind. But think first, are you sure you're going to never cross into the mage realm? If you might, mithra would be suitable yet not too common a samurai. If you're sure you'll always be a melee, elvaan and galka are excellent choices.

I don't understand why there would be any real arguement on best race for MNK. IMO Galka is made to be a MNK. They fit the job profile better than any other race. I'd say that's about as concrete as saying Taru is the best BLM (although I'm sure to find people who disagree).

Elvaan and Galka really are pretty close for melee jobs. The biggest differences being in HP and VIT, DEX and STR will be balanced between the two. Galka SAM will be a bit tougher and hit slightly more often, Elvaan SAM will hit slightly harder.

That said, for SAM, I don't see why anyone wouldn't choose Galka over Elvaan. A Galka wielding a great katana, especially with the bald head, is the most compelling image of a samurai in FFXI.

Well, taru~ may be the worst race to be for a SAM but i intend to be one once it hits europe.

You may have an advantage but a few rings and things will even the score a bit, the main thing is to be able to hit the target and D class Dex is do~able. Stats dont make a huge difference from what I saw, the key thing was been able to hit; a elvaan dragoon can do nice damage but whats the use is it if he misses 3/4 ? The real skill is to be able to pull off 2~3+ skillchains a fight and be ready to do another for the start of the next.

I've played before and I know it'll be hard to level but I intend on teaming up with a friend who is making a BRD, so if they want him they have to take me, until we can sort out a set pt. Before I played taru RDM/SMN 58/29 MP freak : ) in about a month and half and I was wondering if SAM?RDM is any good, as you would be able to en~ your attacks and do Blink, Stoneskin, Phalanx later on ?

I see it exactly like u do, and especially on my server. I search everyday for how many mithra SAM are on, never more than 10, and most of them aren't even 40 let alone 60+.

I chose mithra because it's not so overplayed EVERY SAM I SEE IS ELVAAN seriously. I don't care how hard i hit per hit. SAM's aren't about DMG are they!? STR doesn't give you ACC, DEX does.
