At higher Lvs when you actually need Snipers, you won't be in the direct line of fire anyways, so the -def wont matter. However, I do suggest getting a different set of rings for pulling/solo play.

I like to use Phalanx Rings while pulling, and Sun Rings when I farm. It's a bit pricey to have 3 sets of rings, but that -20 to def when taking any sort of damage makes a big difference. You may also want to pick up different earrings than the usual +attack -evasion ones for solo as well.

They're expensive because you are competing with Monks for them, and for Monks, this is the pair of gloves you much get, period. We need the Kote the way Dark Knights need Snipers, and the drop is ludicrously rare.

You got it backwards. STR raises max damage, ATTK raises average damage.
Yup, yup. You're right, I inverted them. My bad. But if you just switch the two acronyms, the message is the same.

Well, you could think of the Kote as a bank account. Put soem money into them, hold onto them for a while, once you get AF, you can consider selling them back and there you have some nice money for whatever else you might want to buy at the time. Taru would probably need the kote the most of any race, but like someone from here has said before, regarding racial differences, "it's like hitting with a 5.8 lb hammer compared to a 6 lb hammer" I say if you got the gil for them go for it, if not the taru RSE gloves are pretty nice for melee anyway

it took me 2 weeks of solid fishing and gardening to come up with the money, after that i had 536k, i used that to buy the Ochiudo's Kote you see in my signature and the Royal Squire Breeches, definitely worth your money, but thats because i needed it, not sure about you though. Nice perk is, people will actually have something to say about your equipment rather then be like oh...ok, theyll be like wow you have that. It really helps having an item that many wouldnt botherr going for because the price is way out of hand. I dunno but it looks kool, and occasionally you'll have a high level person examining you rather then a low level person.

As far as it is worth anything performance wise? i guess I cant really tell, because nothing is really noticeable, but I can say I'm usually 1st to 2nd highest damage dealer in my party. I'm not lacking in the damage department lets put it that way, and with berserk it makes it better as well.
