  • Ochiudo's Kote - Question

    I just reached 41 with my Sam last night and decided it was time to take a break and Farm.

    On top of my list right now is:

    Ochiudo's Kote

    it is 500K on titan tight now :sweat: as a Taru sam I know it is a priority to have the top gear at all times. Are these gloves worth the 500k?

    they're running at 400-500k on midgard.. and for a taru sam they're definitely worth it, even at that price

      I don't get what's so great about them. They seem overrated to me. Atk+20, Darkness+8, Light-8, Eva-5 for 500k?? Seem better off getting Hairpin+Leaping boots for 600k. For a taru, maybe this is good. But, then again, STR equipment maybe better. *shrugs*

      I used Hume male RSE Gloves til AF myself. Saved myself money that way.

        The big thing is:

        Meat Mithkabobs + Berserk + Ochudo's Kote = large ATK boost.

        STR alone raises your mean damage level, but not the max damage potential. High STR will raise your minimum damage and lower your damage variance. High ATK will increase your damage potential, meaning your max damage will increase. High STR + high ATK is ideal for maximum damage, but high ATK will allow for bigger numbers even if your STR isn't the best (ie. a Taru).

              even then i'd still skip the hairpin ;/

              winged boots might be reasonable though

                You got it backwards. STR raises max damage, ATTK raises average damage.

                  Well, if you're Sam/Rng, or just enjoy using a bow, the +agi definitely helps out.

                  Narru, that's odd, I've always heard the version he just gave, yours is the first time I've heard of saying Str= max damage, att= average.

                    Narru's right.
                    STR raises the amount of damage you /can/ do on the damage curve.
                    ATT raises the amount of damage you do /within/ that damage curve.

                    I'm mnk, so my experience is a bit different, but I've had my kote since lvl 32 (yup, a bit early...). I absolutely love em. You need to compensate elsewhere with str and acc, which makes the life belt a no-brainer ('course I got mine for ~30k on rag), and str+ rings sensible. It much more obvious when you guys miss, so I can see how snipers would replace str+ rings.
                    The bottom line is if you're not willing to farm at 40+, you're gonna be gimp. The good news is that nearly everyone else out there is gimp ^_^;; Bad news? You're competing with a million other melee for pt spots and you need to set yourself apart.

                      The above poster is true. I stopped lvling at lv39 to get some of those gear. Now at lv41 i have the jujitsu gi, Ochiudo's kote, Emperor Hairpin, Bastokan cuisses and Republican greaves. I have decided to leave the snipers for later because as someone has pointed out, it's not really necessary now at my lvl. With these new toys, I get more invites, not significantly more but I can feel it's more (yes some PT leaders do check me if we happen to be in the same area). Plus, I really think the Kote is worth the heaps of gil.

                      Kote + mithkabob + berserk = more dmg

                      I'm wondering though whtether I should get a couple of snipers or just one sniper and one +str ring because without the snipers, mobs already hurt me a lot and if i wear 2 snipers (which means -14 def) it will hurt even more.
                      49 sam, 34 pld, 33 war, 30 blm, 21 whm, 18 mnk

                      Jujitsu gi checked
                      Ochiudo's kote checked
                      2 sniper rings checked
                      Emperor hairpin checked
                      Valkyrie mask coming
                      Peacock charm for 6 million... yeah right x_x

                        As stated before, they are not crap for sam/rng.

                        As for other stuff, I can see why kotes would be nice now. But, i still think 500k is way overpriced.

                        Personally, I do 1 sniper and 1 str rings. If i need to take less damage, need to do more damage, or i gain to much hate, I switch to and from sniper/1 str rings and 2 str rings. Especially, when I know i'm gonna be dealing with dark elvaan types and the like (DD ouch). I just think 2 sniper isn't really worth it. Especially since i play a hume and lacking a bit in the str department.

                          fc - you think 2 snipers isn't worth it, like i think leaping boots and hairpin are ;/

                          edit: wouldn't you want to be wearing scorp rings +1 anyway? o_O i do snipers then switch to scorp for ws o_O;;

                          bard simpson - 2 snipers is -20, not -14 >_>;

                            No comment about the 1st part. But, I already have macroes for switching between hairpin and af helm for meditate. I just got lvl 65 and tachi: gekko. Truth be told, I'm running outta places to put all the macroes I should have. heh. If i start putting macroes into different macro sets, bad things start to happen like missing renkeis and disbanding pts by accident. d:

                            I should re evaluate my macroes to see if I can streamline or replace any of them.

                            P.S, Tachi: Gekko is nice. ^^

                              HA! Belive it or not they arn't worth a dime 0_o, if you switch them out with Acc+ Equipment your much better off because it only adds one to two damage a hit.

                              My thoughts: Buy yourself Sinper Rings, because after 60 you won't be able to hit without them they nerfed are acc ; ;
