Recently, one of two main jobs I decided to play was Samurai (Other being Nin) (I also want to try Nin/Sam at 60+)

Have any recommendations for a new Samurai? I'm levelling War now, but it's still only level 5 (my 30 job is WHM, planned on being a BST and BRD originally). Thankfully, a lot of my Nin/Sam armor will be interchangeable, but I expect costs to be high still (Accuracy for Sam, Accuracy/Evasion/Attack for Nin + powders).

Would Sam be a good job to use when I'm earning money for my Nin, or would I be best off using my War (subbed Thf?) when I want to gil-farm (and level my sub at the same time)

This is of course assuming a /WAR sub, which makes sense to me.

Well just one suggestion atm Ninja isnt considered a damage dealer, thus Sam wouldnt be a good sub. But there are plans to nerf the Nin blink spell, (which could help u), but until then it is my 2 gil.

I realize it isn't for the most part, but at 60+ with Meditate, Store TP, a fast Dual Wield, haste equip and haste spell...I'd be spamming WSs faster than just about anything. I don't intend to sub SAM onto my Nin until level 60+ though, not much to be gained before then.

If you are looking for a job that will fund your ninja, then samurai isn't the job for you. At lv40, I have to spend approximately 1.2-1.4 million gil for my next equipment. I stop lvling at lv39 to farm for that amount. You can buy cheaper stuffs but from my experience, other than your skills and your rank, your gear will also determine whether or not u will get invites more often. Japanese samurais at my lvl usually have gears that's worth 1 million +. So if you don't want to be or feel gimped, it's better if you spend the gil and to get that gil, it takes a lot of time.

To make it short, samurai is one of the most expensive jobs (at least on my server).

Now i know i'm only lv39 but I have a few high lv japanese friends and they all told me when i decided to become samurai, that I should lvl some other jobs like paladin because samurai isn't exactly "newbie" friendly but oh well, I love the job too much to stop me from going sam :spin: :spin: :spin:
