Samurai equipment guide, need help pls

I am currently a lvl34 hume sam. I am just wondering the sort of gear a sam should have at certain lvl. can the uber samurai gurus give a guideline on what sort of equip I should get at certain lvl?

I know at lv40 I should grab that Jujitsu Gi and sniper rings but are there other options if say, money is an objection?

BTW can u also comment on my current gear? thx

I have:

Homura +1
Sandorian bow
Iron arrows
Spike necklace
2x Beetle Earrings +1
2x Balance rings
Warrior's belt +1
Mercenary Hachimaki
Custom female gloves
Centurion body armor
Centurion leggings
Royal Squire's leggings

Did i miss any equip? I know i should prolly have that cent visor but my dex is odd numbered if i equip that so i pick merc hahimaki which adds +1 to STR and that makes my STR even numbered. And no, I can't afford Peacock charm...I wish i could but I've only played for 3 months

First of all, that gear is good, it will last you through the time until you can get meaningful upgrades.

However, the remark about odd and even numbers leads me to a general piece of advice I've come to consider true in my 64 levels.... a sole concentration on Accuracy , as opposed to a mix of Acc, Dex, Attack and Str, is not always the best way to go.

For example with a bard singing accuracy up, or subbing ranger, you should stack up a bit on attack and STR to hit for a meaningful amount.

Oh, and a hint: start saving for those dreaded around-50 katanas.

Ah yes, further upgrade plans should include :

Hosodachi (awesome weapon for its level), the mentioned Gi (the sitabaki is actually ok), the first sniper ring ASAP (get it out of the way :p) and , if you have the cash to spare, Ochiudos.

On a less expensive level, Ametrine Rings, Steel Scale if you find yourself tanking more, and dont worry too much about boot and leg slots.... Jujitsu Sitabaki and Centurions are good low-cost items until AF. Both of these slots have only mediocre items for samurai if you dont have massive cash to spend.

just look for anything that upps your stats in this order of priority:


ACC = DEX > ATK = STR > DEF

you want to focus on hitting and not missing, so acc & dex are really important. 1acc = about 2 dex, but, dex contributes to both accuracy and chance of critical hit, so having extra dex is also good as acc is only accuracy of hitting.

if sniper rings and ochiudo kote are too expensive (hell they are too expensive for me at 62) then get ametrine rings and jujitsu gi (or if cant afford gi, whatever armor has highest def for lowest cost at that level).

What feet is good until 70+? I doubt any SAM would want to even touch the AF boots with a stick, and only 3 other boots give any useful stats.

Fuma Something :sweat: = +3% haste
Federation Kyahn = +4 ATK +4 RNG ATK
Leaping Boots = +3 DEX

Is the +3% any good? I know it's loved by MNKs and NINs, but their damage comes from hitting fast. As of now I have the federation Kyahn, can those last me all the way to 70+?

And leaping boots are way overpriced, I doubt I'd pick those up unless I suddenly had 300K not saved up for anything.

yeah i saw Hosodachi...wow it is very nice. Prob is, no AH sells it. I even had to wait for a week for some1 to finally sell Homura and even then it's a Homura +1 so i have to spend even more. Where do you get all these katanas because not even Tenshodo sells them.

And yeah, I already have Fed Tekko until I get my Kote's.

And bringing up Kote's, any tips on camping? I'm hoping to get them instead of farming for them, expecially since I'll already be farming for Snipers, Jujitsu Gi, and Valk Mask. :sweat: :mad:

After reading your many posts Marek, I've come to the conclusion that you are either on a server that's population is very complimentary to Samurai or that you're in a tight circle of players (or can speak japanese). Your posts of c'est la vie are somehow comforting, but oddly not in harmony with many poster's experiences.

I'm not putting you down here, I just find it interesting how "well" it's gone for you.

Your comparison is not entirely accurate. Subjobs are something everyone can do, because it's just playing the game. Farming for 300k is pretty boring and time consuming. There are also a finite number of kote's in circulation. Would you call someone who doesn't wear all +1 equipment gimped? From what you're saying, yes, they would be, as they have not bought the highest quality items possible for their level. Someone with Kote's are the exeption, not the norm.


On Marek, I think he just knows that games are meant to be enjoyed (not suffered over)

i must admit i have several JP friends so finding a party is never a problem.

as for missions/quests, my LS is very tight and we help each other constantly.

so yeah, for me, having sniper rings and haubergeon is not a necessity, i will get them when the price goes down or i can hunt the NM that drops said items.

Anything over 500K I don't think is nessicary. Under 500K is fairly easy to get. So yes, I do want my tanks to wear +1 armor and DD's to wear +1 weapons. I don't spend so much money on gear just to party with people who don't take the time.

And I'm not going to bitch at somebody who doesn't have the gear. Like you said, it's a game. Some people find enjoyment in just play, I find enjoyment in playing at my best. I'd just much rather not party with them.
