  • Galka Samurai?

What the pros and cons of being a galka samurai? Would galka be a better samurai race than elvaan, why/why not? If I was going to be a galka samurai, what would be the best sub? Why?

im not a galka player but i still know w few things. galka technechly would be one of the best races. but only because the have more hp. the elvaan sams would be good too because of strength. so really its sort of a tie with elvaan leading just a little bit. lol a good sub would either be war or mnk. both of which galka and elvaans are good at. you would want to stay away from subbing an advanced job. not even ninja is good since the sams weapons are two handed. whm would only be used for soloing but not for galka with only enough mp to cure maybe 4 times at mid teen range. so both elvaans and galka would be good sams. but dont let me tell you. your spose to play the game the way you want. and if you dont like it then play a different way. thats whats so awesome bout thie game. i hope this helped. (and all you sams out there im sorry if i didnt get the stats right cuz im a taru lol)

Really, when it comes to Samurai, it's all just a toss up between Hume, Elvaan, Galka and Mithra.

I've partied with all of the following at my level with basically the same gear and not seen much of a diffrence. All that I and most can see is that I have slightly more health than the rest.

Now, according to the stats, Elvaan should be hitting for more DMG, but I've not seen it. I've not met another Samurai at my level thats done considerably more damage than rest of us. Granted there will always be those with under leveld subs or horrible gear that will infact do LESS damage, but thats just to be expected.

Elvaan and galka don't have that big a gap in strength, but how does a galka's dexterity compare to that of a elvaan. I here that missing is sort of a problem with elvaan.

In all truth, how well a job combination or race to job works all depends on the player's skill to properly balance the character. If you need an example of what I mean just about every ability, skill, or even the basic attack/defense in the end are measured by two factors (Consider the monster's end is ignored).

The first factor is the threshold this will be one of the stats there that'll determine your max possible and min possible. The other is the frequency, this is the average that you'll score limited within the boundaries of the threshold.

An obvious example would be the Comparison of STR and Attack. Attack creates what the threshold is, the higher the Attack is the higher the potential damage is that you can do. This does not mean that you'll ever hit the highest possible and it doesn't mean that the damage you do will be noticably different with it alone.

STR will alter the frequency of your damage, this alone also does not mean you'll notice a big difference in damage. If STR is to low what happens is the threshold ends up creating a bell curve with your STR making the lowest point in the curve. As a result of that what happens is hitting your max potential damage ends up as an extreemly sharp spike, which translates to you actually getting that damage being extreemly rare.

If STR is to high though it also effects you, with STR that's to high your threshold becomes flat. This means you'll almost always hit your threshold's max, but if your threshold isn't given enough of a push what ends up happening is you have lower max potention. So even though you're hitting your max, the damage may appear no different then the one next to you that has high threshold and low STR.

It only becomes evident when an attack to force your max potential is done, example a WS at 300% of physical damage. The one with a higher threshold will end up outdamaging the other person even though the rest of the fight they seemed to be even in damage. This will also become visible to when criticals are done the lower threshold will have a smaller gain in damage then the one with a higher threshold.

Just about everything in these kind of games are measured by that. Even something like enmity, I'm betting it has a similar relation with CHR.

              EDIT:

Trying to remember the right math term for this I'm fairly certain they are called logathrims, it's been about a year since I really had to use them for work/school so sorry if I got the term wrong. If someone knows please confirm or correct me.
