Sorry but you will most likely get flamed. But ehy it's an honest question you had and you were curious. Do a little research around the boards though and you'll find really no melee should sub some sort of mage. . . unless you wana be the poor man's PLD and do war/whm.
However, in some situations yes, you can sub a mage to be beneficial. Like for instance in huge alliances that just need more people to sneak/invis and things of the sort. But as a rule of thumb for PT and practical use stay away from mage subs ( '-')b

IMO, DRKs should go BLM up to 30. The only thing that any other job offers is Provoke (which is needed if you're tank sucks, but hopefully you wouldn't use it) and Boost (which is also not very good). BLM though gives more MP and spells.
Ofcoarse, a lot of tanks are new to tanking pre-30 and have no clue what to do, so Provoke is needed.
