  • what go with brigandine?

    I have a pair of royal squire's mufflers and they are good, but is there any armor for hands that go with brigandine? Is the Custom M gloves worth it for a SAM Hume?

    I'm using Royal Squire Muffler, Centurion Visor, Jujitsu Sitabaki, and Royal Squire sollerets for my SAM now. I'm skipping the Jujitsu gi since it's 80k and going to get brigandine at lvl 45.

    What goes with brigandine? I plan to keep my sitabaka and sollerets.

      I'd say the Royal Squire Mufflers will be your best bet, unless you can afford Ochiudo's Kote, which I doubt you can.

        does Ochuido's kote really make that big of a difference? I know 20 attack is great and all but when you have 200+ of it i would assume that it wouldnt be as good as like... using a mithkabob or berserk which is based off of %(though i guess it would be good for stacking all 3 at the same time). But would it really be worth 350k or whatever?

          i'm gonna have to say no they aren't worth it. After lvl 45 I'll probably be having over 200atk with berserk and mithkabob. some things have no reason to be high price except the rareity

            Personally i took a pass on it. Too many people on my server have it, and I think it looks ugly. yeah yeah +2 dex.. I'll take the loss.. Only 300k more for absorb dex anyways :sweat:

              I don't know about later on when the +20attk isn't quite as large compared to your base attack, but I farmed a ton and picked up the kote at level 34, and the increase in my damage was pretty sick. My hit rate suffered a tad since I gave up Federation Tekko (3acc) to wear them, but hopefully I can remedy that soon at 40. On IT dhamels in E altepa my average hit went up 10-15 points, and on the too weak-easy prey I was farming for cash, my average hit went up about 25points. The gloves give roughly +30 attack with a mithkabob and beserk up, which is nothing to scoff at.

              If they aren't worth it, I dunno what would be better for the hand slot honestly, especially since they have such a low recc level. Regardless what the mithra would have you believe, I'm beginning to see that +str and +attk is just as important as acc and dex. I rather like the look myself. Speaking of which, I got my first decent looking katana tonight, the level 37 one. No more sports grip tape on the handle, yay. 250ish attack at 37 with mithkabob and beserk.

                Brigandine is the ugliest piece of body armor in the game, even uglier than harnesses. It has good stat boots and def which is good but god dayam it's ugly. I think everyone playing this game, sooner or later, will turn into a 8 year old girl playing dressup on their barbie dolls, if you've reached that stage in ffxi addiction then I advice you to not buy it. I always say sacrifice looks for stats, so get the POS but cool looking hara-ate a lvl later.

                  did i just read that correctly... some body said ochido's kote not worth it :confused: :confused: :confused: ........ pretty much with ochido's kote its like having a meat mithrakabob on you always.......... and you can set a macro where u switch to ochido's when using a weapon skill to increase damage when you have your af gloves, or another glove you perfer over ochido's....... and ochido's kote is probably one of the best gloves out there..... always a use for that glove

                  anyways

                  comparing jujitsu gi with brigandine armor...... your best bet would actually be the jujitsu gi.... your gonna want that +4 accy more then the +2 dex +2 vit, that +4 accy makes a difference....... and yah, i have to say brigandine armor is pretty ugly, well thats my opinion anyways.....

                    The only time I could see using Brig over Jujitsu would be if you had to take a damage-sponge roll. The Gi doesn't protect well at 40, let alone 45. If you're going to get hit more than once, you may HAVE to go with Brigandine.

                      OMG it's 80k!!! You should be so lucky. Its damn near 150k on my server...

                      ; ;

                      Yea I was just gonna get the CP armor at 40 then do some BCNM and get the Gi. OR Just get the CP 40 and then get the Brigindane. BTW alot of people call it the "Jester Armor" -.- It looks like a knightly ChainMail type armor.
