After reading alot...what are SAM's???

  • After reading alot...what are SAM's???

    I've been reading alot about SAM, and I find it dissappointing. SAM don't really specialize in anything. So far this is what I collected. Correct me if I am wrong. ( Hopefully I am, cuz i really wanted to be a SAM, just not a useless one)


    1. They are not the best(or better) dmg dealers
    2. They are not the best(or better) tankers
    3. They obviously cant cast magic
    4. The tp bonuse gain is not significant
    6. Their best ability comes at lvl 30
    5. And their WS are not that powerful...


    What are SAM then? Just look pretty in their af gear or good lvl 60 sub???

    # 5 & 6 are real problems using SAM as a main job right now, IMHO.

      Samurai is skill chain master.. Samurai Sword can produce many attribute of skill chain and his ability "Meditate" allow him to store TP very quickly and therefore Samurai is center of skill chain.

      If there are 3 melees in your PT including Samurai, skill chain in the party often like this:

      #1 Skill Chain
      Samurai + Melee 1+ MB

      #2 Skill Chain
      Samurai + Melee 2+ MB

      Reason why we often have above formation is that Samurai can be always TP100% with using "Meditate". So when Melee#1 or #2 reaches TP100%, Samurai can always initiate skill chain..

      Be careful that Samurai demands its player have plenty of knowledge about skill chain...
      Samurai player needs to know what skill chain is effective for the mob and need to configure skill chain with available weapon in Party..

          Wait a minute! Doesn't meditate allow you to go up to 300%? Or do you have to smack the mob to get from 100 to 300?

            meditate gets your 100% for samurais and 60% if you have sam as a sub. Samurais AF helm lets you get to 140%.

            hope that helps.

            btw Samuaris are always renkei masters because they can fit into any renkei without a problem at higher lvls so they're still very useful after lvl 60+

              I don't really like the SAM's 2h ability. It seems like it is half done. I only ever used it once--when I was lvl 5 and gaining 300 tp solo is easy. Most 2h abilities I witnessed are used in near-death situations, and for the SAM, you don't always have the full 300tp (in the early lvls) so when you need it the most this ability may be useless.

              How is this in later lvls? Is gaining 300tp much easier then?

              Square should make it so you gain 300tp instantly, no matter what you have currently, unless it does already and I spoke too soon :p

                what they should have done is made it so that your TP was locked at 300% or something for 15-30 secondes so you could WS endlessly for that short amount of time. That would rock.

                  That's what I originally thought it was a few months ago. That would be a little too good though, but it could be just the thing that samurai needs! Actually it would suck to have to rely on 2 hour ability.
