  • Maat... ^_^

Hehe, I beat him good. Second try after my first trial run.
I broke the record, my time was 1 minute 39 seconds, previous was 1 minute 43.

So much for tactics (unless you can call bumrush a tatic), I used a Pumpkin Pie, borrowed Elemental Torque held forward after trading the Testimony, did this on Windsday. I caught Maat casting Enwater and used Sleep 1 (stuck) then used Stoneskin + Blink, Dispelled once. I hit Chainspell then let rip 4 Aero III's all for 350+. Maat Chainspelled and whatever he cast was absorbed by blink. I used Sleep 1 (stuck again, lucky O_O) converted, 1 Cure IV and put Blink back up. Then unleashed 3 more Aero III's for the win. I did it all within Chainspell (minus first Sleep, Stoneskin and Blink) and he didn't touch me for any damage once.

I was left with 443 HP and 193 MP, and I have to say that was one of the most exciting things I have ever done on this game. (Come to think of it a lot of luck was involved, like the sleeps sticking first go and then not being Paralyzed right at the end and no resists for AeroIII).

    Congts!!

I just hit 68 last night, so Maat is right around the corner for me. My taru friend used the same strat, except for the sleep. He used a combo of Aero III, Blink, Aero III, Blink. I think his time was around 90 sesconds, as well.

Can you give a list of gear? You said you had an Elem. tourque. Wind Staff? or Austre? Lvl 69? or 70?

I know I'm interested in knowing, and im sure others would be, too.

      Thanks. ^^
I did this at level 70, my gear for Aero III was:

      Wind Staff
      Warlock's Chapeau
      Phantom Tathlum
      Morion Earring X2
      Elemental Torque
      Warlock's Tabard
      RSE1 Hands
      RSE1 Feet
      Magic Cuisses
Forest Rope +60MP +4 INT -4 DEX (Big help, worth about 300k)
      Zircon Ring X2
      Red Cape+1

With a Pumpkin Pie that gave me +29 INT and I think 639MP with Electrums on, that extra MP was used up on Stoneskin and Blink so I had plenty to role with.

Gear for sleep was the same except I used a Dark Staff and Spider Torque.

Good luck for when you give it a shot. ^^

        wow nice congrats ^^

What a coincident I beat Maat last night too, first try as Rdm and I won.

My fight was bad BAD >.<~lasted over 5 minutes....Had to sleep 2 and rest because I screwed up so many things.
I got nervous and panic, very VERY badly.
I decided to fight him on darksday and as soon as the day icon turned dark, my hands started shaking. I already had a fighting strategy thought out but once I entered the BC my head became totally empty... don't know what to do, forgot what to cast, couldn't find my macro etc etc. :dead: thank god I won...

        My "holy-shit-im-screwed" list.

        - nervously switching my target around.
        - I went to AH to buy Yagudo drink, I thought I got it and ran right to Maat. In fact, I didn't. Bid not accepted.
        - Forgot reraise item in my mog. I openned up my item trying to look for scroll and drink and sure enough they weren't there. Made me even more panic...
        - I forgot what to cast. missing some macros and also casted a lot of spells I didn't planned to cast
        - the /equip macro makes my nuking not showing any effects because I was switching my gear. Combined with the fact that I was panic, I lost track and only got out about 3 earo3 during my entire chainspell and giving Maat a lot of free hit. Yay!

So to anyone planning to fight Maat, just don't panic - -' If you can fight him calmly, he's easy prey.

Congrats Jei! At least you got him on your first go. ^^
I got over-excited on my first go, too many nukes left me with 1 mp before Convert and an awake Maat = me dead.
Just before entering the BC my heart was pounding like after running a race, I almost panicked too.

grats on beating maat and setting the record! As nerdy as it was, I actually wrote a step-by-step list of each spell I was going to cast, when I convert, etc. To my surprise it went 100% smoothly without me taking any damage. It really helps lessen the nervousness when you have a clear mind of what you're going to do.

Grats on the win ^^ you 2. When I won it was my 3rd try, on Earthsday, no windstaff :x (so Aero 3 did a whole point less damage than on windsday). I lost my second try because I was casting my last Aero III then he wacked me with 2 Asuran Fists with one hit in the middle ; ;. (Blink took the first one..somehow, the single hit broke stoneskin and caused 150 damage and the second AF got all 8 hits in, for 845 damage total).
The 3rd fight could not have gone smoother, done with run in sleep, dispel, buff, Aero III->Sleep, repeat, convert, Chainspell Aero III for the win. No Elemental Torque, no Windstaff, just meds, a crap load of +INT gear (+30 something total i think), and one very pissed of RDM.

So now that I got my sky access and Maat out of the way I finally caught up my GF's level (she's 73)

She told me never to level above 72 without her waaaa

Grats on Sky, I still need to get that myself. I think I'd better leave it till after end of trimester exams though.
She should at least let you catch up to her, so you can level up at the same time, off the same mob. ^^

                            >_> I'm 0/2 for maat...

                            both times, everything was going fine until, BOTH times, he used two asuran fists literally BACK TO BACK... ._.;

to give you an idea, right after I nuked him, I started casting sleep. It got resisted, and by then he was close enough to hit me. In the time it took me to cast refresh(my one mistake) he hit me w/ 1 asuran and a normal hit. Imediately after refresh was casted he hit me w/ the second one, killing me ...

                            is that normal?

edit: wellI guess I shouldn't toy w/ him... by that point he was at about 40% hp but I didn't chainspell cause I didn't really see the need yet... >_> I also /laugh at him cause he started off so easy... Guess he doesn't like to be made fun of.
...so we will step away from the mainstream to live like vagabonds and common dropouts... don't you want to hang out and waste your life with us? -Spike

Congratulations to all who beat Maat

And Mila: It feels like Maat chainspells Asuran Fists in the end. First time I tried he hit me with back-to-back Asurans too. Second time I won without using either chainspell or convert It's all about luk unfortunately.
