starting out as an RDM question

Im going to get in to FFxi soon when i get my new computer, I want to be a tarutaru so i can do some magic (plus they are uber cute ), i was thinking of being a RDM so i can do atacking/healing spells and have the option to do normal atacks. so is that a good combination for me?
