Dispel and farming questions

I'm currently a 31 red mage, looking at Dispel prices, with 204 gil in my pocket. How soon do I need dispel? And, in an entirely related question, Would a 36 Black Mage or a 31 Red Mage be better at farming?

PS. I've got thief leveled to 15 for subbing during farming.

Well,

For me at that level I had a Blm sub. I went to Palborough Mines and then AE farmed Quadevs.

Basically, they can't hurt you if you have your stoneskin up, so you go through and tag one Quadev, and let him chase you through the loop of the lower levels, pretty soon you have about 20-30 quads on you all at once, then...

Stonega, Waterga, or Aeroga(If you have it)....

They drop like flies in a big hurry. Gil pours in like its raining and Quad shells sell really big in Bastok.

These days I do it with the Giants in DeffKutt. But add Firaga to the Mix and Have Phalanx on top of Stoneskin.

Let me ask you this: Would you invite a WHM that didn't have Raise post 25? Thats how much you need Dispel.

With your 36 Blackmage you could go Mining in Yugott's Grotto. Good drops, and you won't have to worry about agro.

I did the tele-dem quest which brought in the majority of the gil needed. I sold it for 45k. I'm going to do the other teleport quests to support my drk though. lol. I suggest doing those if you never plan on being a whm. hehe.

I know Dispel is important.. I was just wondering if it could wait a few levels, say, until i got stoneskin... I realize it can't now... farming like a madman. :sweat:

and thanks for the teleport suggestions... i'm not quite sure i won't level whm up there sometime though... actually... i haven't ruled out any jobs yet ^_^;

To the first reply posted, he cannot use Stoneskin, we do not have Stoneskin at level 31, we get it at level 34. I would suggest farming Crawlers in Sarutabaruta, Rams with /RNG in the Highlands or Plateu, or train farming Giddeus/Palsborough. Don't give up. That spell is so neccesary. I use it more than I use cure IV (WHM can take the hate with that thing for me, I stick to Cure III in non-emergency situations ^-^). Dont go to Garliage without that spell. I did /RNG at that level and camped La Thiene for Rams and Air ELementals (Wind CLuster 2k per on my server, Ram Horns 1.5k-1.8k per). Take the minimum armor possible (I usually take sword, body-region equipment (Brigadine, Tunic, w/e, etc), and a shield only because everything you farm there is non-stackable and you want as many inventory slots possible. That leaves you with minimum 27 slots:
15 Ram skins
7 Ram Horns
5 Wind Clusters

That above should look like your average haul per trip (2 hour trips) [15 x 600]+[7 x 1500]+[5 x 2000] =
29,500 per trip. That means youll need only 3 trips for Dispel. If youre lucky and get more horns-clusters than skins, you may be able to do it in 2 trips.

Think about Dispel being a hug that only Red Mage can give ^^

Its that kick ass. I personally am half-way to buying it, so i just have maybe another week of farming ahead of me. I sol all equip i dont use, and i sell EVERYthing i get from farming. even if its those worthless Yaguado feathers, i sell to NPC. you never know how those little sales add up.

Either way, I know I could do it even without Stoneskin, those things just don't do enough damage. He's a Hume, he'll be fine. The mobs he's AE farming are generally 9-15th level.

May take some minor damage, but Palborough is a great place to farm, I could make as much as 10k a day in there doing that. Usually it was around 7-8 k because the spell drops sold to merchants really well.
