Ark Angel Tarutaru, anyone tried soloing it?

Well, yesterday I was bored and decided to try and solo AA TT [I've completed Zilart so I had to find someone to enter with me].. it went pretty well and got him to 50% about 20 minutes into it.. then I got too close and got Amon Drive'd which is an AOE attack that Paralyzes and Petrifies you. Anyways, he used Flare and Aero IV to finish me off while I was paralyzed, reraise from gorget and was only able to take him down to 40% before I got kicked because of the 30 minute timer.

I went in as RDM/BLM, buffed myself, food, reraise gorget [ Reraise II] and started the fight with slow and paralyze. I followed that with Poison II and Bio II to keep him from regening his HP back and would reapply as they wore off. Also aspir and drain were working pretty well against him. To do damage, I'd start off with Thunder III and follow with a Blizzard III if AA TT didn't use anything that could hurt me alot such as a -ga III or IV level spell [Blink didn't always absorb...], otherwise I would just run out of range. My biggest problem ended up being the lack of MP, even as a Tarutaru..

So, just wondering if anyone else has tried to solo AA TT, and what strategies they used ^-^

I'm glad to know there's a brave RDM trying to solo him. I've never heard of any RDM successfully soloing him.

My next target is also AA TT. I think I'm going with /NIN because Amon Drive can be avoided by Utsusemi although it removes 1 - 3 shadows.

I think I'll activate Chainspell, do self SC, 300% (from Opo's trick) Evisceration -> 100% Savage Blade (Icarus) and MB with Thunder III twice at the beginning. I'm not sure if it works but I'm going to have two separate macros for this.

Interesting, never thought about actually trying to melee him and creating a self-skillchain then bursting. I didn't have chainspell ready at the time, nor did I have any elixers. I sort of did this on the whim since my LS had finished what it was doing in sky as I just arrived. I'll probably bring some yagudo drinks next time to save mp from casting refresh as well as a vile and vile +1.

Sadly, I don't have Savage Blade yet since I got lazy after getting Evisceration. :sweat: Steelshells are in my future too.

Also for your Savage macro, you cannot have:

/equip main Joyeuse
/equip sub Thanatos Baselard

You will get the following error:

I see. Because I didn't get the error when equipping shields on sub slot, I thought this would work for sub weapons. I have to fix it anyway. Thx for correction.

Hmm, total 4 (3 + 1) secs between two WS. I guess I should give up equipping secondary weapon then.

Before I logged off, I did some experiment.

First of all, I found equipping both main and sub weapons at the same time worked.

I created two macros:

[Evisceration]
/ja chainspell <me>
/wait 2
/ws evisceration <t>

[Savage Blade]
/equip main Joyeuse
/equip sub Hornet Needle
/item Icarus Wing <me>
/wait 3
/ws Savage Blade <t>

I first had Thanatos Baselard for main and Savor +1 for sub. Then pressed the first one to activate Chainspell and to shoot Evisceration. It worked without any problem.

After I finished watching it, I pressed the second one. I was surprised to see Thanatos Baselard swichted to Joyeuse and Savor +1 to Hornet Needle successfully. Icarus Wing was activated next. However, "/wait 3" seemed to be shorter. I missed Savage Blade. I'll try "/wait 4" next time.

Anyway, it is impossible to move the one that is already on the slot (e.g., main Joyeuse -> sub Joyeuse) without removing it first but it seems to be possible to swap both weapons simultaneously to a different set.

I finished capping most skills after I spent 3 hours on having fun with Steelshells. I'll go forward after I do some practice.

The audio codec is WMA9.1 and the video codec is WMV9. You need Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 or later (WMP10 recommended).

Amazing, that was about 2,096dmg from weapon skills, Fragmentation and MB alone, and I bet you could've gotten another MB in there if Lost Soul didn't die!

Could it be a lag issues? (As I believe you live in Japan, where as I am in the states)

Suppose we have 4 weapons, A, B, C and D.

When we switch A + B to C + D, it works but for example, if we switch A + B to B + C, it doesn't. I guess that's the reason it didn't work for you.

I'm not sure if it was because of a lag issue or not but it could be.
