My experience with Castle Oztroja was more fustrating than anythin else and really made me hate how greedy some THFs are. The key drop wasnt horrible took about 5 hours for 3 days with about 9 lvl 60s. But the coffer was crappy and fighting the damn greedy thfs really pissed me off. I spent 3 days making rounds in there but i was solo and couldnt get behind the brass door. the 2nd day i had warped out to help a friend with AF in Beadeaux and the 3rd day I went back to make some more rounds. On my way up to the top I saw a coffer in the corner in one of the staircases. My heart was pounding as I tried to get invisi off and trade key praying there wasnt a sneaky thf also there ahead of me. Luckily I was alone and I got my Tabbard finally.

Actually Castle Oztroja isnt nearly as bad as Monistat Cavern. Astrals in those coffers as well and so many Orcs sitting around in groups. Ranged from T-IT to a lvl 60. >< Trying to get a key/coffer for a BLM friend was a horrible experience. Every pull was a link and a few deaths. It was impossible to pull a single Orc and there is only 1 camp spot by a zone to Davoi on the other side which wasnt that great either. So we gave up the first time and went back last night with the plan on having a lower lvl THF in our LS try to pick a coffer in order to spawn a mimic then kill the mimic which drops a coffer key. We get there and actually found a coffer in a corner room with a IT and T orc. So the plan was to sleep the T orc and kill the IT. Well the T orc wouldnt stay asleep even with ES, Sleep II, and my dark staff for very long. Then resisted sleep so I tried to occupy it while they killed the IT. (We had a party of 6 but no DDs with a lower lvl THF) We ended up nearly dead and escaped in time. Those Orcs were way too tough to take one at the same time. On our way back in we ran into a 75 MNK friend there farming and he agreed to help us kill the orcs but on the way there someone caught aggro and trained a bunch of Orcs to the zone which ended up causing a big mess. eventually we got together and was in the processes of killing the Orcs guarding the coffer when I see a THF drop invisible then kneel at the coffer! She tried to pick it but failed the first time.. But after a few /say asking her to let the BLM have it for AF she actually backed off and let him have the coffer. After 10 keys we spawned a mimic and our 75mnk friend destroyed it resulting in the key drop. So just be glad we didnt have to do it in Monistat Cavern.

Thieves constantly camp out Oztroja coffers, since they can earn astral rings.

Thieves who pick locks, will sometimes cause the chest to become a mimic which will attack them.

Mimics always drop coffer keys. 100% drop rate.

If you offer the thieves in Oz gil, I paid 20k for mine, you may be able to convince them to let you join their party, and get the key off the inevitable mimic.

Once you have your key, you can camp or wander around for your coffer.

My story is pretty simple. I spent 4 hours in a skill up party in Oz, saw 1 key drop, and I lost the lot. Came back a few days later, shouted to hire a thief, got my key in under 10 minutes, got my coffer 15 after that in the statue room. It was incredibly awesome. I look at it as payback for the fact it took me 80 hours to get my Eldieme key. :dead:

Lol, had the same experiance with my af, out of all of it getting my gloves in Eldieme was the hardest >.<
Mostly because the key never droped when a high lv would help me.

Some useful knowledge. Casting invisible cancels invisible, so there's no need to do so manually. Also, Invisible is instantly reapplied the moment the spell cancels the effect. You can literally stand eye-to-eye with a yagudo and recast Invis on tick one or tick two and be in *no* danger.

Avoid the leech pond unless you see a coffer there. 58 and below will still be aggroed by these.

If you have a thf friend who will open the brass statue door for you, that's very good too.

I ended up camping the Statue room at the very top as well, couldn't get the door to open but when I decided to go I assumed that there would be a thf in there somehwere and maybe I could get them to open it for me. Sure enough, when I arrived, I did a /shout Plz help me open the freakin door to statue, looking for CF chest for AF. about 2 seconds later, a thf popped up from behind the door and let me in.

I didnt feel lke running around looking for the CF to pop, too many thf running around at that time anyway. So I also just parked myself, and got a book to read whlie waiting for it to pop. About 6 hours later, it popped next to me.

in those 6 hours, some thf's did come on in, before they could reach the door I had already done a Translated /shout please Tresure Box Articfact Armor Can I have it? Redmage Camp. Some thf's turned away as soon as they saw that shout, but some thf dont' give a rats ass and came in and checked anyway. Some thf cmae in there and said "who fuckin cares? I dont give a shit, it's about money". I guess there will always be people like that. which is really gay.

But I got it, and I dont wanna go back there again. But it's pretty much luck I guess all chest are really.

Well the Castle Oz chest was fairly easy in contrast to what I have gone through in Garlaige Citadel and Eldieme Necropolis. The one thing I really hate about some players of this game, is they get their key then "oh I have to go." Counting down the days, my AF currently has taken:

Castle Oz: 1 day for key camp and coffer
Garliage Cdl: 3 days, lots of keys, lost all lots.
Eldieme Nec: 1 day, 1 key, lost lot.

I'm starting to pay people to help me its getting so bad.. and i wont exp because im stubborn and want this armor Here's hoping for good drops!

My experience with coffer key was not bad. I organised an alliance of skill up party with duration of 3 hours. In those 3 hours 3 dropped and all 3 seekers were happy to get the key.

Now for the coffer run. During my days of 58, I died once trying to beat a thief getting a coffer, but my invis wore off and ended up dying before I could recast invis (I wasn't paying attention). It was very very common to see at the least 3 thieves in the area. The key is to keep moving. No good just waiting in one spot. The coffer may pop from 15~40min random time. Appart from the secret room you can easily see the coffer spawns. Although many of them are located in dangerous places.

Coffer key drops varies of the multiple times I farmed in this place. Could be 1 per 15min or 1 per 2hours. I with this about hm... 5 times. All the time varied. Coffer chest are more of a pain than the coffer key.

Note: Wish they made AF coffer like RSE. Spawns instantly in AF case... its in the game, dunno why they don't implement it...
